Anyone tried the Wet Brush?

I'm so fed up with the tangles in DD's hair. Tangle teaser only seems to get through the top layer and not the hair underneath so it's a pain in the arse. She had her hair cut into a short bob last year, which was much easier and it looked gorgeous BUT she hated it. So we're back to long hair again and I'm desperate! Heard about the wet brush and wondered if anyone has tried it?

Not heard of it or tried it, but from what you say about the tangle teaser I'm worried it's maybe your technique and wouldn't want your DDs hair to be damaged. Perhaps you're doing this already tho and in that case ignore me Blush

You need to start at the bottom, not the top, combing about 1-2inches at a time gradually working your way up, separating if the hair is thick. You also want to do this while the hair has plenty of conditioner on, not just water. Tangle teaser is the best IMO

Tangle teasers are no good on dry hair if it's thick. Great when your combing through the conditioner on wet hair but painful on dry hair. Our whole family is blessed/cursed with thick frizzy hair and we've found the best brushes are Mason Pearson bristle&nylon. They're expensive but last for years. A good investment!

I've got a wet brush, they're great for detangling.

XiCi · 02/07/2017 08:56

Yes, we've got one. They're amazing. Always used to struggle with tangles in dds hair and it's gets them out quickly and easily with no screams from dd Smile
One of the best things I've ever bought!

XiCi · 02/07/2017 08:57

Far far better than the tangle teaser btw.
Tangle teaser is great for dry hair, not for wet ime

Amazing. DD has wavy hair that is below her bum and a very sensitive scalp. Wet brush has revolutionised our mornings. She has always had long hair for her age and she loves it. I was at the point of getting it cut up much shorter to be manageable. The wet brush in a paddle style was the last option before getting it cut. As soon as we tried it I threw the million other brushes we had tried in the bin. I would heartily recommend it.

Girlywurly · 02/07/2017 09:19

Yes, it's brill. Both DD and I have one. Worth every penny for the drama it's saved at hair brushing time.

Copperspot · 02/07/2017 09:27

Its all i use and i've recommended it to all my friends with kids who hate hair brushing.

I tried a tangle teezer and it did nothing! Wet brush changed my life (long thick wavy hair).

Unicorn81 · 02/07/2017 09:40

Yes absolutely brilliant, better thank tangle teezer

Hairq · 02/07/2017 09:41

I have one and highly recommended it.

Bobbins43 · 02/07/2017 09:42

Another vote for the Wet Brush. My daughter basically starts shouting any time I lift a hairbrush. This is the only one that hasn't caused her pain at some stage. I ended up buying one too. They are GREAT

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/07/2017 09:46

I've just googled Wet Brush. Those brushes have been around for years surely, have they just rebranded them?

KnockMeDown · 02/07/2017 09:48

I've just googled the wet brush, and it looks just the same as any other brush of that style. What is it about it that makes it different? And why is it called a wet brush - are you only meant to use it on wet hair?

XiCi · 02/07/2017 10:02

Yes they detangle wet hair really quickly and easily. I don't know how they work but they do and they were an absolute godsend for me. Dd would scream as I was trying to detangle her hair with a normal tangle teezer and I was close to getting her hair cut short
They're designed just for wet hair and don't work on dry hair, the bristles are too soft

Sciurus83 · 02/07/2017 12:21

Yup, absolutely brilliant, have two now and not even sure where my tangle teezer is

Sciurus83 · 02/07/2017 12:22

It works on my dry hair as well (fine, mid length)

GingerLDN · 02/07/2017 12:57

The wet brush is fantastic. Knock I think the difference is the (very) flexible bristles in these ones. Whatever it is they are brilliant and I use mine on wet or dry hair.

ParadiseLaundry · 02/07/2017 13:10

I got one in the Look Fantastic beauty box. I'd never heard of them but gave it a go and it's one of the best things I've had in the box, I wouldn't be without it now.

I have thick long curly hair and makes detangling in the shower a piece of cake.

WhataHexIgotinto · 02/07/2017 14:00

That's fairly unanimous then! Just ordered one, thanks all. Wink

They are brilliant.
I love mine

Oldgranny · 02/07/2017 15:47

picket how interesting, my dgd has long thick hair. Personally I always think it needs s good brush. I am a wise granny so 😷🤐!!!

BringMeTea · 02/07/2017 16:48

They are great.

Housewife2010 · 02/07/2017 19:16

I bought one and hated it. My daughter and I both have long thick hair and it was useless. It isn't a good idea to brush wet hair which is when it is as its weakest. I find the best way to detangle long hair is with a wide toothed comb and thick conditioner after washing or with a Mason & Pearson mixed bristle brush when dry.
