Hair-do...n't. Help.

I have very thin strands of hair but a LOT of them. My hair is below my shoulders but, unless I have it professionally blow-dried, it looks shit. So I end up putting it in a messy top-knot every day but, as you can (sort of) see in the attached pic, the hair is all broken so looks frizzy all the time. It basically never looks nice unless I have been to hairdressers.

Frizz-ease/argan oil type products tend to sit too heavily on the hair because the strands are very thin. Mousse works a bit but I look a bit 1980s wet look!

To make matters worse it is neither straight nor curly. Sort of straight to my ears and then looks like it has been permed about 9 months ago so bit like a loose crimp. Nice.

Can anyone suggest any products that they think might at the very least tame it a bit? Has anyone unlucky enough to have hair that sounds vaguely similar got any tips?

I am in my 40s and just always look so unkempt on a day-to-day basis which is becoming more of a problem as I get older and need all the help I can get!!

Kersatase Resistance range is amazing for fluffy wispy hair. Mine isn't hair so much as Bee Gee fluff; any humidity and I lose all control of it, but straight it is so fine it looks awful. Honestly, Kerastase Ciment Thermique and Ciment Anti Usure have revolutionised my hair. The shampoos are great, but the conditioner and head protector make the most difference.

The other thing I've learned is that my hair doesn't like bleach. I'm blonde but used to highlight it white-blonde. I've gone slightly darker blonde and using less bleach has really helped.

Bee Gee fluff is exactly it!!

I used to use a Kerastase product called Bain de Force which helped for a while, so will give those a go!

And yep. No more bleach for me although I do have a high-lifting tint these days. I did try nothing for a while and didn't really help so I thought I may as well like the colour at least!

Thanks for the tips on product - will give them a go.

How do u get your hair up like that? I actually quite like it! I'm rubbish with hair but would love to put mine up like that!

Percy and Reed overnight mask, for as many nights as you needs! Goes in on dry hair and washes out in the morning.

EnidAlexandraRollins · 29/06/2017 19:56

Haha Mintmagnummm - it's a flattering angle. It is literally a bun with a non-hair-breaking elastic band thing round it and then I pull a few bits out. The hair is so wispy though that it looks like I've got a haze around my head.

Will try Percy and Reed as well as the Kerastase. Thanks.

About to go on hols so will hopefully have a bit of time to lavish care and attention on my hair and sort it out a bit!

Ha ha if you saw my attempt at a bun you would feel so much better about yours Grin

Olaplex?

I have exactly the same hair as you but red. I've not found products I'm happy with but it looks much better jawlength with layers. It bounces up more rather than going get traily waily.

Mainly want tips about products though!
