Vintage silk flowers for low key wedding help!

I have another thread running on AIBU about whether to have a bouquet or not at my wedding in 4 weeks. I'm going more for wrist corsage now I think but would prefer silk flowers than fresh.

It's a low key, informal wedding so I don't want to spend a lot of money.

I had a bouquet ordered from eBay but the seller has refunded me saying it's not available which has led me to go down the wrist corsage avenue.

I have been looking and looking but I need experts on the job! Grin

I'm looking for ideally matching:

4 button holes
Wrist corsage for me
Hair corsage for me

My colours are hot pink/ light pink/ white and vintage theme.

Looking for roses.

I seem to prefer smaller roses together rather than 1 big one and some foliage if possible.

If I can't get a matching hair corsage I'd consider a other wrist one to alter for my hair.

If they're all not matching I could cope with that if they looked good together.

Can anyone help?

I'm a florist.

Where are you based? Have you spoken to a local florist? Silk flowers are less malleable than fresh so tend to look stiffer. You can get excellent vintage looking ones but they are usually ££££

Bear in mind that your florist may have to buy a minimum amount of stems ( that they won't need the balance of once they've made your flowers) so the cost will include the price of the unusable stems.

In all honesty, I would always go with fresh. Unless you are getting married somewhere so hot that they'll wilt in minutes, or there's a reason why you want to keep the flowers why would you do that fresh gives you a better choice, looks natural and is cheaper.

Otherwise, go to John Lewis, Dunelm etc and see what's available. Get a craft glue gun and some wire and do it yourself. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials to help you. It'll be ten times fiddlier than you anticipated, but these things always are!

Where are you?

SoontobeMrsT · 29/06/2017 22:09

Thanks @LadyOfTheCanyon I was going to contact some nearby florists today to enquire about flowers but haven't had a chance. Will enquire.

@user1495915742 I'm in Glasgow

There are quite a few on Etsy if you search for vintage silk roses, eg

I'd always go for real flowers, given half a chance.

If you're after a quirky / slightly abstracted / fake then look paper flowers might be worth investigating. Plenty on Etsy here , here and here for example. Huge variety of styles.

Ah okay

Fresh will cost you less than decent silk flowers. Go and speak to a couple of florists. You don't want a lot so it shouldn't be too pricey.

Your flowers will be in all your photos. Don't stint or you will be reminded every single time you look at your photos.

What about these silk ribbon roses? They are available as buttonholes but could be modified to make a wrist corsage.
