God, I just have no idea! Help?

I'm almost 40 and I'm a (big) size 12, though everything has migrated south somewhat (breasts, fat on hips/thighs, stomach etc). It seems to have all happened recently, I feel pretty low about myself. I've always been 8/10.

I need to do some exercise but I also need a new wardrobe! I don't have the time, money or inclination to Go Shopping, no idea what I'm doing and just not enough money to make it worthwhile.

I'm looking to restock my wardrobe on eBay, but I'm out of date with what items and brands I should be looking for. Gap? The white company? Fat face? I'm very much casual: jeans; tops; occasional summer dress; converse; Denim shorts; Toms.

I know I'm probably too old (and wobbly) for the likes of topshop and new look now. Boden is not my thing (my mum lives in boden!).

Can anyone tell me what I should be scouring eBay for please?

I have got no style at all so probably not the best to recommend but bought a very nice casual linen blend dress from Next recently. Red herring nice too I find.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Is red herring a Debenhams line?

Yes red herring is Debenhams Smile

The sale is on at Hush - they do very casual slouchy t-shirts, jumpers and nice easy to wear sundresses. A few years ago I bought a few things from eBay and really regretted it, you can't tell how the clothes will hang or if they've shrunk a bit or stretched a bit in the wash. I think you should take advantage of the sales so you can try things on. Especially if your body shap has changed.

There's a 50% sale on in Debenhams ATM - I'd recommend going there rather than eBay - unless you are absolutely certain of something for sale on eBay is going to fit and you'll love it, then it's often, for me, ended up never being worn or given to a charity shop

Have a look at Cos. I'm similar to you, and I find their stuff incredibly comfortable, and it looks smart too.

I buy a the odd thing in New Look (as I'm constantly in there with my teenagers!). Uniqlo is good for basic t-shirts and I've got a couple of really nice smarter tops from there too. I've also recently bought a couple of lovely tops in Wallis, where I'd never shopped before - both in the sale with an extra discount on top. Zara is also good.

Worth also checking out the supermarkets - I do most of my weekly shopping in Sainsbury's and often pick up a couple of bits in there. It's all good value stuff, and although you can't try it on, it's easy to take back next time you're in there.

I used to get a lot of clothes from Fat Face and White Stuff, but have really gone off their stuff recently - I don't think it's very good quality for the price.

Great, some of this I hadn't even heard off and, supermarkets, brilliant idea!

True re eBay, it's often a disappointment isn't it.
