Blonde, pale and blue eyes - tell me how to do eyeshadow

I've got tons of different colours of eyeshadow but always feel massively over done because I'm so fair.

I've tried a couple off Pinterest that weren't too bad, but I need a go to smokey eye that suits my colouring.

Anyone of the same ilk have any fail safe ways to create a decent not overpowering eye?

I'm the same colouring and have given up on dramatic eyes! I just do a wash of pale golden brown over my lids and then mascara. Eyeliner looks awful on me, but that's more my eye shape and the fact they are deep set (or 'sunken', as one make up counter lady told me. Thanks for that!) I try to go for an over all look of healthy glow, rather than a made-up look, if that makes sense.

I think that's what I'll have to stick to as well.
I find myself looking enviously at people with gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and lovely make up Grin

I even got my hairdresser to darken down my hair roots in the hope I could wear heavier eye make up but with my skin colour it just looked daft.

Charlotte Tilbury does eye pencil things which are supposed to be tailored to your eye colouring. For blue eyes, she has a sort of golden colour for daytime and a dark grey / blue colour for night. I have both and really like them.

Do you have blond eyebrows? The way they reflect light really does not work with the smokey eye look.
Benefit and Smashbox both do very light colours, that allow you to make your eyebrows visible without going sluglike. Go gentle, it really changes the impression of your face shape. Also use brown mascara not black. A deep taupe colour pencil instead of black gives a smokey look.

Taupe eyeshadow is your friend and as you are pale using lighter colours will still give you the smokey eyed look. For instance instead of using black or very dark brown shadow take it down a few shades and you should still get a smokey effect.

I need to check out those Charlotte Tilsbury eye pencils. Do any department stores carry her line?

SheGotOffThePlane · 25/06/2017 10:40

I'll also check out those shadow pencils.
I've been using my Naked 2 palette when I wanted to try and experiment a bit.
Will also ditch the black mascara

For my brows they are very light. I've been using Benefit brow stuff (sorry can't remember what it's called, the wee brush that adds product to the hair) and Stila pencil.

Yeah, Frasers and John Lewis carry Charlotte Tilbury.

We sound quite similar, OP

I use a light taupe all over the lid, going up to the socket none. The a layer of mid brown over but not quite as high, then dark brown (day) or dark grey (night) in the corners

Brown-black eyeliner with a small flick and brown-black mascara to finish (Chanel sepia is my favourite colour)
