Went out with some friends last night in a new cream dress that I loved and looked great in the mirror at home. Only to be told by a friend when we were out and it was too late to do anything about it that it was completely see through in some lights!!!! So embarrassing!!!!

for next time

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 08:35

Thanks. That may be a little long for this dress. Haha

I wear the half slips, so just the skirt bit. Marks and Spencer do one in a 16inch which hoiks up of necessary for a short dress.

Why do shops sell see through dresses? Drives me crazy.

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 09:32

Thanks I will have to have a look around for next time.

I know, however I wasn't the only one last night! Some women really don't seem to care who can see their knickers. I did care less and less as the night went on and drinks went down though. I got some stick off the girls though. Haha

My sister just said that I may well be able to get away without the slip if I can find some more suitable knickers than I was wearing! Any good suggestions? You could still see my bra a bit then but that's not the end of the world.

E bay is your friend - I found a short slip with adjustable thin straps in beige for only a few pounds. Loads of lengths - measure back of dress and knock off a couple of inches.

Btw I blame the clothing manufacturers and the loss of linings.

MrsPear · 24/06/2017 18:55

Plain beige seems to disappear whereas white shines out

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 19:49

If I can I would like to avoid a slip as it's a nice light summery dress. I think that the manufacturers make them like it because girls/women are increasingly happy enough to have their undies on show. Its certainly not for me! I think I'll take the dress with me and try a few different things underneath. It might be time I invested in some big beige knickers as opposed to my usual.

The M&S ones mentioned up thread - say they have "cool comfort technology". Has anyone tried them? I'm rubbish in the heat but have a new dress that's a bit thinner than I would like!

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 20:52

I am definitely going to tryou and find some good invisible underwear first.. any suggestions? Personal experiences? I would rather avoid full/big knickers if I can. Thanks for your feedback so far.

Get a slip! The M&S ones are good, several lengths and adjustable straps. Dresses hang better if you wear a slip.

Pestilentialone · 24/06/2017 21:07

Skin tone underwear (well one tone darker than your skin is best) no lace. Never wear white underwear to a club or anywhere with interesting lights, it glows. Dusty rose pink and milk chocolate brown are also surprisingly unnoticeable on white/english rose skin tones.

Pestilentialone · 24/06/2017 21:18

This sort of colour works for most people.

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 21:27

Thanks. I never would have thought of that type of colour. This would be my choice out of that collection. uk.triumph.com/string-brief/beauty-full-darling/10156818.html?cgid=700000&color=6851_Forest%20Frost# would this work do you think?

Fingers crossed. I've ordered 4 various thongs including your suggestion pestilentialone, and also 2 big pants that my mam and sister suggested. Hopefully no more knicker flashing from me! My mum also ordered some of the big pants because she's always wore white knickers under linen trousers. She doesn't really care though that we can all see her undies! What are your opinions on seethrough stuff and a hoeing your undies?

Pestilentialone · 24/06/2017 23:22

I have a nice selection of no show sensible colour undies. I also have some very silly colour undies. Last year on a hot day, like we had last week, I wore my beige floaty sundress. The weather broke, it rained but only after I had started walking to the station. Total transparency. I can totally rock acid yellow and fuchsia undies it was either that or jump in the river and cry I now try to wear the sensible stuff to work.

2crazykids · 24/06/2017 23:49

Haha poor you. I bet you brightened up a rainy day for the men around though. Ha.
I will also start paying much more attention to what I'm wearing underneath.

I have been converted. I've kept everything that I've ordered! My mum however cracks me up.. she sais she feels a grump in beige so shes sticking to what she's got and if anyone can see her undies then good for them. Hahah

I am officially converted! I've kept all that I've ordered and it's pretty invisible even under white trousers.. my mum however cracks me up!!! Apparently she feels a frump in beige so shes sticking to her usual and if her undies are on show then they shouldn't be looking. Hahah

John Lewis do thin slips for miniskirts.

2crazykids · 27/06/2017 23:44

Thanks groupie123 but I think I've found the alternative to needing a slip
