I am after some red sandals and have seen these, but they are on the 50plus website- and I am not 50plus...yet!

www.fiftyplus.co.uk/shop/natures-own-slingback-sandals-wide-e-fit/gq579/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=2170#colour:Red,size:9

I need something with a bit of structure, and a small heel (or no heel). I really like them in black too. Are they old and frumpy?! I hate shoe shopping- I have big feet and there is never anything in the shops that suits me.

Frumpy McFrumperson. Sorry, I think the clue is in the name of the shop. It says "fifty-plus" but it means 70plus. Try Ecco.

Patronsaintofglocks · 22/06/2017 21:11

Old ass sandals

WeSailTonightForSingapore · 22/06/2017 21:11

As pp above, try Saltwater. I think its a 50/50 split on MN as to whether they are frumpy but all the 30something hipsters wear them in my (very cool) city. See the model that the pp posted above, that (and not the other models) is the one that looks great with literally everything.

I also have wide feet and have had no problems wearing Saltwaters. They are very comfortable and last ages.

I also have the red saltwaters and love them (I'm 37). Often get compliments when I wear them!

I love the look of Saltwaters and just purchased a pair due to all the rave reviews on mumsnet. I was really happy with them - looked gorgeous and seemed very practical... however... after a day's wear I was unable to walk - crippling foot pain ( couldn't put my heel down, never had a problem before like this) due to zero foot support, which really surprised me as loads of posters said they were super comfortable. I literally couldn't walk properly for 2 days and was scared I had done permanent damage. Went back to my Birkenstocks ( lots of arch support) and all okay now, hopefully.

It may indeed be just me, but as the OP has mentioned needing support I'd just add a warning that Saltwaters are the flattest sandal ever with no heel and no arch support ( they do look very nice tho', so I fully understand why people like them).
