Would this look nice on someone very unlike the model?

I have a bust and hips

It's the first one.

Hmmmm, I think it would be good but I normally think that slightly lower necks on big busted women look better and thats quite high isnt it.

Lovely dress though.

sunnywong · 21/03/2007 07:31

agree about the neck line
otherwise it is cut for proper grown up ladies with curves

The model has two backs.

twentypence · 21/03/2007 07:44

She looks very thin in some of the photos.

Agree about the neck line, but NZ necklines are generally quite high. I've sold a lot of my UK tops because I feel tarty wearing them.

that would suit you
have noticed exactly what you mean about NZ necklines!

twentypence · 21/03/2007 07:57

Haven't actually got $269 but that's just a minor insignificant detail.

Tis minging.
On anyone,bust or no.
There are a million nice dresses out there. Why go for that sack?

ghosty · 21/03/2007 08:41

Say what you mean moondog, don't hold back

20p ... am kind of wondering about what you mean about NZ necklines ... that must be a Christchurch thing ... I often wear low necklines and don't feel out of place at all ... I mean, not tarty, like plunging but definitely a low one.

Personally that dress is not my cup of tea - I am not good with too much pattern in a dress, patterns don't suit me but I think it would suit you - would it be a work dress or for an 'occasion'?

ledodgy · 21/03/2007 08:43

I don't like it either and think the second one is nicer and would suit a big bust and hips.

brimfull · 21/03/2007 08:48

Is it a wrap dress?
If it is then the neckline would be lower if worn by the large of nork, thus more flattering.

Lact8 · 21/03/2007 08:54

I would say from experience your backside will look HUGE!

I have a small print wrap dress. I'm a size 12 , big bust. From the front I look fine. From the back my ar$e looks enormous - don't do it!!

earlgrey · 21/03/2007 08:59

Agree with what's been said so far. Also I think you'd need something to break up all that pattern a bit.

Gi'us your next choice and we'll do a post mortem on that instead!

twentypence · 21/03/2007 09:31

The one on the right would make my arms look enormous.

Moondog - that's what I love about Mumsnet - you don't have to say you like it because I just bought it and you are my friend. You can prevent it from actually happening.

Actually the willingness of UK women of all sizes to wear tight skimpy tops is one of the things you notice when you come to the UK. NZ women tend to dress with less flesh on display in general. DH convinced British women have bigger boobs as well, trad NZ shape very pear shaped - big thighs, smaller on top. And part of it is the weather - at least in Wellington, it is only ever warm enough to wear a strappy top about two weeks of the year.

It has inspired me to put lots and lots of my old clothes and shoes on Trade Me. I won't be buying that dress but I would like to buy something brand new this winter. I am getting rid of a shocking 4 pairs of boots and 10 pairs of shoes.

link won't work for me.

ScottishThistle · 21/03/2007 23:48

That dress is only for the super slim, though it's rather workwear looking!
