Can I dye white Jeans black?

Made an error in my style judgement and bought white jeans that I will never wear again.
Can I dye them black without ending up with some bizarre tie dye effect?

Yes.

Use Dylon machine dye.

If the stitching is polyester than that won't take the dye.

FortyFacedFuckers · 19/06/2017 11:51

Thanks I will watch out for that.

Usually with jeans the stitching won't take the dye. So you might end up with a contrast stitching effect...

MikeUniformMike · 19/06/2017 11:55

I wouldn't. I have had great results with dyeing but I only use black for reviving faded black things. Even 100% cotton things that dye black a treat usually have polyester thread and it doesn't take the dye.

(I too have a pair of hardly worn white jeans but I'm either going to sell them or take them to the charity shop unless I miraculously lose half a stone)

FortyFacedFuckers · 19/06/2017 12:02

oh maybe best not to but I guess if it doesn't work its no big loss.

I'd go for a pale colour because the stitching won't be as obvious.

FlippinNorah · 19/06/2017 12:05

Maybe try running over the stitches with a black laundry marker if they are polyester.

Just wear the white with pride!
