Are these shoes too frumpy?

I'm not normally bothered about fashion but wondered if these are a couple of decades out of date or just too frumpy.

To wear with a navy dress for a serious occasion (how I look completely unimportant). I normally wear brogues, flat sandals or trainers but I feel dumpy in this dress with flat shoes. But need comfort.

I can't seem to upload photo. Will add link.

Fwiw I don't like them much but I haven't time to go shopping. I might manage a flying trip to Clarkes this weekend for some sensible plain court shoes.

Honestly yes they are. Clarks is a good shout though, they do have some nice platform style courts which are comfortable but I bought some nude medium height lace up sandals from them which are lovely and comfortable. Nude would also go nice with navy.

I got some patent nude block heels about 11/2 inches high from shoezone for about £12 - i.keep getting complimented on them. I wearthem with a navy dress

lalaloopyhead · 16/06/2017 07:12

I'm not keen, it's the straps that make them look frumpy I think. Just plain courts would be better.

I've seen the shoezone courts that AngryBird has and they are rather nice and a good price if you don't wear heels a lot. I would have got some myself by my feet are awkward and they don't come in half sizes.

Riderontheswarm · 16/06/2017 07:14

No. Most of my shoes are much more frumpy than that as my back aches if I don't wear sensibly shoes. If I could walk on those I would go with them.

paranoiaparanoia · 16/06/2017 07:20

Ok thanks.

Can I wear black with a navy dress? I might feel too dressed up in nude. And they'd look obviously new which id rather avoid.

(I have two pairs of sensible plain courts bought exactly for such occasions and have discovered I no longer fit in either. Ditto my bloody suits. Grrr)

I love them!

But there are some lovely styles in Clark at the moment, I was in yesterday. Have a look in there first, but if you don't find anything you love these are fine.

MelanieCheeks · 16/06/2017 07:34

I think they're lovely!

DividedKingdom · 16/06/2017 07:36

OP I recently acquired these for very similar sounding purposes:

V. happy with them!

burnishedsilver · 16/06/2017 07:40

They're ok but they are a bit wintery.

paranoiaparanoia · 16/06/2017 07:44

Yes they are wintery aren't they.

Lots of possible on M&S thanks. Just checking their delivery. Easy to return in store I'm guessing if I order a few pairs.

I don't think they're frumpy, I quite like them

Fairylea · 16/06/2017 10:37

I don't think they're frumpy at all! Navy suede is very trendy at the moment and the shape / block heel is fashionable. I really like them.

Piratesandpants · 16/06/2017 11:28

Try wedges. Easy to walk in and stylish. Clarks are always comfortable.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/06/2017 13:51

I really like them :) It depends upon what you wear with them. You could look quite chic in them with the right outfit.
