Comfortable but stylish sandals

I'm looking for sandals which don't rip my feet to shreds. And are smart enough for an office and to be worn with a dress, but are also comfortable to walk a fair distance in.

I hate shopping and don't have time to wander around shops so I mainly shop online.

I've recently bought new sandals from "safe" brands and they all hurt!

Camper : had one lovely comfortable pair. Bought another pair online and they tore my toes to bits

Marco Tozzi : I've bought several pairs of derbies and one pair of sandals and they're comfortable. The latest pair of sandals rubbed up blisters during the morning commute (I ended up with 6 plasters on my feet)

Footglove : I have some lovely comfortable boots. Bought some sandals and they gave me blisters by the end of the day. Second wear were better - only one blister.

The thing is, when they arrive and I try them on they always seem comfortable (otherwise I'd send them back). It's only part way into the morning commute (underground plus a fair amount of walking) that the sandals start to hurt.

Any ideas?

Where are they hurting your feet? Heels, toes, soles? Rubbing and causing blisters or straps digging into you?

Apart from individual styles not suiting your feet, are you buying a large enough size? Are you allowing for extra room for your feet to swell during the day (sometimes more so in hot weather)? And never wear a new pair of shoes for a 'full' day - either wear them at the weekend for a short trip to the shops or something, or take them to work and change into them after you arrive.

Are you buying leather or synthetic?

I have problems buying shoes which don't rub and find leather to be the worst especially cheap leather which is often hard.

These are nice and very comfy IMO but I don't if they'd suit www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-two-strap-sandals-navy/p3128683

I find wearing them around the house with socks on is best as it softens the leather.

It would help if you told us where they rub because it might be a particular style of shoe, location of strap etc. which is the problem.

Thanks for your replies.

They're mainly rubbing across my toes and the strap at the back.

Think they're all leather. Hadn't thought of wearing them in with socks in the flat. My neighbor will hate me Wink

Rubbing causing blisters. Mainly big toe and little toe

Seeking the same. Got a great pair from foot glove two years ago which are now falling apart, but nothing similar in the shops. Have stupid narrow heels so tend to need an ankle strap too. The nearest I got to comfortable was a pair in the sale in clarks a few weeks back, but I needed black and they were burgundy (claribel fame). The struggle is real!

OP, what shoe size are you? I bought these a while ago and they're the most comfortable sandals I've owned. They have size 5,6 and 7 still online

Skechers? Flitflop?
Dont pay alot for any of them as not worth it.

Treesinbloom · 14/06/2017 20:27

I'm the same with needing a strap.

Am a size 4 and not in the U.K. So need international brands.

Will look at sketchers but not sure they'll be smart enough

Tbh comfortable sandals rarely are smart. Its comfort or style/fashion. You wont get both. What about a loafer /boat shoe. They are comfortable and go with most outfits. And you dont have to paint your toes!

My most comfortable sandals have been by el naturalista, expensive but incredibly long-lasting, and I think, quite stylish.

Tamaris have padded soles which I find unusual these days.
Can you get Varese where you are?
