Interview outfit that isn't a suit

Need help! Have dream job interview and need something to wear that is smart and professional but not a suit - or a suit that flatters and I feel comfortable in. I always feel so frumpy in suits.
Am 5ft4 and size 10 with section overhang.
The job is NHS non clinical

Hello! I have had similar issues with what to wear at interviews. I find suits just too expensive to invest in, and there is the added problem that jackets just don't usually suit me because I've got a huge bust. I am also 5'2" and have a section overhang too. Nice, huh?

Anyway! I tend to wear a smart dress with a smart cardigan on top, often with a brooch - not frumpy though!

Recently, I tried a ponte suit jacket from Boden - half price!!! - called Emilia and it fits like a dream. Perhaps that sort of jacket could be another option?

GOOD LUCK with your interview!!!

Seconded on the soft jacket. I usually wear a dress, tights and a soft jacket. Usually with a sparkly brooch. Smart shoes (I'm 5ft 7 so tend to go flats). Also very large busted so no bloody button up shirts or tailored jackets for me!

Thanks - great idea about a soft jacket. I was thinking smart tailored dress and new cardigan as definitely want my arms covered...

Seen a ted baker dress that looks perfect but it sure I want to spend that much...

I say go for it because it helps if you feel confident. I've been interviewing people today!

FledglingFTB · 14/06/2017 21:19

I recently wore tailored culottes, simple top and a blazer.

Hobbs? They have a sale on now and some great stuff in clearance

I wore some tailored 7/8 length trousers and a dressy top for my last interview, and felt confident and like myself - and I got the job. Bit of jewellery always helps, I think.

I wear good quality , lined tea dresses for interviews with a jersey blazer I picked up from Oasis a few years ago. They're teamed with ballet flats or a smart pair of knee high boots with tights.

I do not look good in suits!

Good luck for your interview :-)
