I've recently bought some from Bon Prix in that size and would also second Asda, I love Asda bras.

Go to the Boob or Bust webpage and measure according to their rules. M&S add an unecessary 4inches so you are probably a 38. Every 2inches down you go, go up a cup. You are probably a 38 F or g.

dementedpixie · 14/06/2017 19:47

It's 1 inch to a cup size

Bluedabbadee · 14/06/2017 19:49

@Jultay - M&S are the worst place to get measured and are notorious for added inches to the back band to try to shoehorn everyone into their narrow range of sizes.

Please measure yourself correctly using the above links and it will revolutionise your life - it did mine Smile

On all these threads, there are always two camps giving it attitude and no one ever explains what's going on.

For anyone who's lost: there are two ways to measure a bra!

The first one used to be standard in the UK and is still used by many retailers including M&S. This has you adding 4/5 inches to your underbust measurement to get your back size, then cup size is +1, +2 etc on top of the adjusted measurement. So someone measuring 29 underbust and 36 on top would be a 34B.

The second newer method as popularised by Bravissimo etc doesn't add the extra inches. So the same measurements in the above example would be a 29F or something like that.

Second method involves scooping everything you can into the cup - you thought it was sideboob or underarm fat, nope it's all boob.

Many people - myself included - find the second method loads better and if you're struggling to find comfy bras using method one it may help.

Sorry, just frustrates me that the second method is fairly new or at least gaining in popularity so it's not that people are getting it wrong if they haven't heard about it!

YY to the large rib cage factor. Mine won't go smaller than 36 inches even if my individual ribs are visible. It's a PITA when I am at a healthy waist-size because I have a huge rib 'overhang' above my abdomen.

Cellardoor23 · 14/06/2017 22:13

See, I tried that boob or bust calculator just out of curiosity, as I've already been measured in bravissimo as a 34G/GG. However, I measured out as a 34J. The 34G fits perfectly though. I'm pretty sure I'm not a 34J!

SarahOoo · 14/06/2017 22:21

Try Bravissimo for measuring....I've found them to be much more accurate than any M&S bra measurer (apologies to any M&S bra measurer!).

Haffiana · 14/06/2017 22:25

I also have a very large ribcage and a small waist. However that doesn't change the fact that M&S FOR YEARS measured me at the wrong size and FOR YEARS I could never find a bra that didn't rub me on that ribcage if it was underwired and in fact even if it was not underwired. I actually thought that my large ribcage was at fault. YEARS of wearing uncomfortable, unsupportive bloody bras because of those mad bastard fitters and their mad advice at M&S. They used to bring me bra after bra in the fitting room and even agree with me that they all weren't quite right. I was told I had a lot of underarm fat, that I was unusual, whatever. I thought I just had a weird shape because of my ribcage and that I would have to live with it.

When I finally got fitted properly and went down 4 whole bloody inches it was a total, utter revelation. I finally was totally comfortable, nothing rubbed, no more red marks on my ribcage under my breasts, no more achey soreness, no underarm fat whatsoever, and what is more my breasts were raised up and pointed forwards and I looked fantastic as if I had lost a couple of stones in weight. I could not believe that I was at last 'normal'. I can go into any shop and buy a bra in my (correct) size and it will fit.

So ANYONE who has been fitted at M&S needs to go and get fitted somewhere else and discover the wonderful world of well-fitting bras. It's possible that a few people may in fact be fitted correctly there, but frankly I doubt it. Those that use their own tape-measure and get it right themselves, well great. I tried that too, but in those days all the websites said to add 4-5 inches as well. So please do not get impatient with those of us who take the time to mention to people who have what appear to be unusual bra size measurements versus dress sizes that perhaps they have been fitted incompetently at M&S. Because if it saves just one person LIKE ME from years of bra misery and bewilderment then it is well worth it.

I'm a size 20/22

Have you tried measuring yourself? Even just to get a rough starting point.

dementedpixie · 14/06/2017 22:41

http://thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html also gives a measuring guide

Jultay · 15/06/2017 09:38

No not measured myself but I will do now ... thank you x
