Petticoat ---- yes or no?

If you wear a flimsy/see thru skirt or dress do you ever wear a petticoat?

Sorting out some boxes since our house move and found some petticoats, that are probably classed as vintage now Smile

I don't wear skirts of dresses anymore so no need of petticoat

Anyway, do people still wear them?

Should we give them to charity shop or to be recycled?

I wear 'cool' slips from M&S under most dresses/skirts if they're not lined - makes clothes hang better I think. If you're not going to use, definitely pass on to charity shop.

No! Seems positively Victorian to me!

I never even wore one as a child, and I am 46.

BackforGood · 13/06/2017 22:25

Yes, of course. Apart from the 'see through' aspect, it stops the skirt clinging to your legs if you have tights on.

KoalaDownUnder · 13/06/2017 22:27

I don't think I've ever owned a petticoat. Or a skirt or dress that wasn't lined.

I wore them when they were fashionable for a nanosecond around 1988... fantastically warm in the winter but not much to recommend looks-wise (the 80s ones were quite long and Victorian, not the tulle prom dress-type ones) Local school or college drama dept might like them for period plays?

I always wear a slip under dresses or skirts if they're not lined. (I wear a lot of jersey dresses.)

These aren't the long cotton ones from 80s

These are cream and white slippery ones
