Huuuge mulberry dilemma

Bought this a week ago (not used yet) been looking for a tan, can cross body bag for summer that goes with everything. It's quite teeny so can only fit purse, phone and keys at a push!

http://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/darley/small-darley-satchel-oak-natural-grain-leather £425

Then seen this beauty that's come into sale

http://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/sale-preview/small-maple-oak-natural-grain-leather £472]

Much more practical but I like to buy a classic that won't date. (I have Bayswater's)

What do I do???

I much prefer the first one, what else would you want to fit in it besides your purse, keys & phone? Will you be needing it to carry things for work?
What about using a small card wallet or coin purse rather than your big purse?

OhWellNeverMindEh · 11/06/2017 12:47

Purse is small!

I much prefer the first one too - the second looks quite long for an across the body bag.

I have a biggish across the body bag from Mulberry (think it's a Mitzy but it's been discontinued now), it's lovely but heavy. If I put too much in it, my neck can start to hurt after a while. I also have a Cambridge satchel bag that I can only get the essentials in - i use a coin purse with it, and it's fine!

I also have a Mulberry Antony, which isn't as pretty looking, but has been a bloody brilliant bag.

OhWellNeverMindEh · 11/06/2017 12:58

I'm not so worried about putting it across body?

I wonder if I've just fallen into the trap of wanting a certain brand when none of the options are perfect?

I've saved up for this bag, so it's not something I bought on a whim

If I'm honest, I really really want a tan small Bayswater's, so maybe I should save up for that?

You'll have the bag a long time so if that's what you really want, better to wait. Have you thought about a pre owned mulberry? I've bought one at naughtipidginsnest -npnbags.co.uk - and excellent service and bag exactly as described.

Nellyphants · 11/06/2017 14:53

Id save up, better to have something you really want rather than something you kinda luke

OhWellNeverMindEh · 11/06/2017 15:24

My DH has just told me to buy the Bayswater bag and he'll pay the difference!!!!

I'm contemplating the fiery red maple at the moment, or the chester, or love the Freya but I've heard the corners don't wear well. Agree to get the one you love though.

OhWellNeverMindEh · 11/06/2017 15:32

Now to decide new small Bayswater or small Bayswater satchel?

OP posts:
Llamacorn · 11/06/2017 15:36

That's lovely of your husband, definitely splurge a little extra on the bag you truly want, it will be an investment piece.
I personally like the satchel better, and it looks a little less structured iykwim.
Go into one of there shops, try them out. The staff are super helpful and you can get a feel of what you like best Smile

Bloody predictive text making me look like an uncultured swine Grin

MozzchopsThirty · 11/06/2017 15:38

I have a mini Bayswater in tan

God I adore it, I'd planned to buy it after winning a court case because I'd never afford it otherwise

I can honestly say it's the best bag ever.
I don't take much out with me but when I'm flying I can fit my purse, travel wallet and a book in it
