Skincare help for this breastfeeding mama!

I've been feeding my DD for 7 months and don't plan to stop any time soon, but my skin is just a nightmare. Help me, please!

I know the spots are hormonal - they're only on my chin, mostly the righthand side, and usually painful, under-skin bumps rather than whiteheads. Will products work for this kind of skin complaint, or is it just a case of waiting till the hormones calm down?

I've tried ramping up the routine, toning it down, new products and old favourites but nothing is touching it. I have a reasonable diet and drink lots of water.

Any tips/recommendations/words of wisdom very gratefully received! Thank you in advance.

Exactly the same happened to me with each dc. Sounds like cystic acne. You aren't taking the mini pill ate you? (Caused the worst cystic acne of my life when I took it breastfeeding dc1 - never made that mistake again!).

As you are limited treating cystic acne internally with medication whilst breastfeeding you could have a chat with your GP about topical meds. Differin has helped to minimise my acne whilst breastfeeding along with azelaic acid (only dianette has ever cleared it). A very simple and gentle skincare routine helps too as inflammation makes cystic acne worse.

Thanks very much! Not on any kind of pill, no. Sounds like I need to go see my GP, then dramatically downscale my skincare!

Product wise, elemis sos cream worked really well for my hormonal spots (not BF though)

Sounds like my spots haven't been as bad as yours but when I do get them I dab some breastmilk on them and they clear up pretty quickly. Might be worth a go.
