I need some wet weather-proof, stylish footwear - any suggestions?

So there's nothing worse than when the weather is wet AND warm. It's too hot for boots, forget sandals obviously, my Converse aren't waterproof, ballet flats aren't much better (and I find them uncomfortable) and I can't bring myself to wear sensible shoes with Velcro straps from Clarks!

Have I exhausted all possible footwear options or is there something I've missed? It shouldn't be so hard to find something that looks good AND suitable for wet weather!

My Converse are leather and not that great in the rain. Plus I'm after a non-trainer.

I wear beach sandals!

seoulsurvivor · 06/06/2017 19:48

I wear Teva sandals.

I always thought of them as supremely ugly and uncool but I have been told by many young and cool people that they are, in fact, cool. If that matters to you.

Have been thinking this same thing today as I stood at the bus stop with water slowly seeping up my tights!

Placemarking for any top tips!

QueenoftheAndals · 06/06/2017 20:00

No, can't do any kind of sandals in the rain. I'm in London so not only round my feet get wet, they'd get filthy too!

It's been awful today - like autumn. We have only had 10 degrees today, so for me it would be ankle boots again, even though it is June.

seoulsurvivor · 06/06/2017 20:11

I wear them all the time in the rain and I live in a city. I actualy find my feet dry really quickly because they're not sitting in soaking shoes all day.

I've not noticed any dirt on my feet really but I wash my feet all the time so maybe that's why.

RunningOutOf · 06/06/2017 20:16

Sandals (mine are tea too) dry really quickly so you can wash them and your feet too!

RunningOutOf · 06/06/2017 20:17

Teva that should say.

I think my colleagues may think me peculiar if they walked in on me rinsing my feet in the sink in the ladies'...

Been pondering the same today.

I considered some kind of loafer but I really don't know.

I ended up going to work in purple suede pixie boots, which were the best I could muster up.

hungrytillater · 06/06/2017 20:57

Watching with interest. At the moment I've got a cheap version of those slip.on chunky trainers that everyone's wearing and they do the job but look a bit plastic!

seoulsurvivor · 06/06/2017 20:58

I mean, people are trying to help, so sarcasm may not be the best option if you're not keen on their responses.

I've always found heels are the best shoes to wear in the rain.

PocketNiffler · 06/06/2017 21:16

I wear my saltwaters but that won't help your dirty foot problem!

Crocs ballet flats? They're not all horrid. Or the Vivienne Westwood rubber ballet flats.

RandomUsernameHere · 06/06/2017 21:21

Agree with the rubber ballet flats. Hunter do them too, or at least they used to.
Or those short rubber ankle boots. They look ok with skirts/shorts with or without tights.

Nakedavenger74 · 06/06/2017 21:29

Hi OP Search for Vivienne Westwood for Melissa. Melissa do amazing soft rubber ballet flats that are perfect for rainy weather. Totally waterproof, grippy on slippery pavements and stylish. They also smell of bubblegum!

I'm in NZ when rain is usually just around the corner and these are lifesavers.
