Yellow shoes to wear with lemon coloured work suit

I recently purchased a lemon suit and have been scouring shops to find some yellow shoes to go with it to no avail.

Just been checking out ebay and came across these . They are very stylish but unfortunately, they are not leather. I do have some non-leather shoes which are comfortable to wear so I'm not that hung up about it.

Just interested to hear the views of the style gurus because I would like something stylish but don't have an eye for these things (I know it is down to personal taste but most of the decent stuff in my wardrobe is chosen by my DH - that is how bad I am!)

nice grey shoes top right of the left hand page here - there are actually some subtlish lemon ones on the facing page too.

I can see how the lemon suit with a plain white blouse / top, white bag (maybe in canvas) and lemon shoes could work in midsummer.

Think the calculator may be pushing it a bit though

please don't wear the whole ensemble with the hat!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 19/03/2007 12:45

You know what might look great? One of those wicker bags in white.

oh and if the suit really is a gentle pale yellow (like the left hand blouse ) the ebay shoes will not go at all.

speedymama · 19/03/2007 12:51

The colour of the suit is more or else like that blouse in the next link.

In the link with the Next shoes, the woman is wearing a brown and white dress with brown shoes. So could I get away with wearing the lemon suit with a pale blouse and lemon shoes?

probably - it was when we thought the suit was the bright yellow as the Ebay shoes that we were saying don't wear yellow shoes too.

I have a lovely men's hat in yellow, very sharp, like something from the 20s.

But you can't have it, I like it too much.

(Now I just have to get a yellow suit ... I love H+M.)

speedymama · 19/03/2007 13:05

Ah, now I get it. Strong colours are too overpowering compared to paler colours.

Would really like to wear the whole thing with a lemon baker hat though. However, if you think that would look silly, I will bow to your wise judgements. I will check out Next for the shoes.

Thanks for the advice and wisdom.

consult DH re the hat - it may work, you never know.

Actually that Next shoe page has, at the bottom left, some rather glorious lemon peep-toe ones with bows - would do well to take the suit to a wedding if you wanted to.

I did find these which are rather good, but not sure if they're the right sort of yellow.

CODalmighty · 19/03/2007 13:21

shudder t whoel concpet

speedymama · 19/03/2007 13:31

Jackie, I like those shoes but the suit is much paler than that yellow.

Probably best to avoid then, or go for the lemon ones MrsBadger found.
