Hot weather bras for the larger cup, where are you?!?

Possibly this just isn't out there but I know exactly what I want, please help! I'm a 34F and really want a couple of not too expensive bras which are:

Non-padded, nothing to absorb sweat and smell iffy!
Cotton or other breathable material.
Thick enough fabric or enough layers so that nipples don't show through. (I've quite high nipples which peer over the half lace ones IYSWIM!)
Broad back to minimise back-fat lumps.
Pretty or at least not entirely hideous!

Thank you for any help.

Would the Miss Mary ones be any good? I don't know of stockists, though.

oolaroola · 02/06/2017 09:05

Yes! I need these too, and not made of flipping nylon, which nearly all my old favourites seem to do now.
I just bought a bra from pour moi - but chose it just cos it fitted not cos I like it.

doubleristretto · 02/06/2017 10:53

Miss Mary is great, thank you Blahblah but it's a bit expensive for me at the moment, I just want to pick up a couple of bras for the summer for under £50 for the pair. oola it's common sense isn't it? Breathable fabrics in the heat?!

That would be far too sensible- affordable and breathable! I need to get some decent nursing bras as I'm currently using the cotton crop top style nursing bras. It's so hot I am sticking to them as I cannot bear the thought of synthetic materials right now. I'm even finding the elastic bit uncomfortable in the heat.
Just a thought- would your local primark/Tesco/Sainsbury's have anything?

blodynmawr · 02/06/2017 13:46

I have this M&S lace one that is almost 50% cotton and is good for my G cups on hot days...
HTH Smile

Germgirl · 02/06/2017 13:56

What back size are you? I'm wearing the Yours T shirt bras. They have moulded cups but aren't hot & sweaty. They have wide sides and backs and are the only bras I've found that don't roll up on one side. I'm a peculiar shape btw.
They're about £20 each and go up to large cup sizes. But they start at about 38 back I think so that may be too big for you. Have a look though. I think they're great.
They only come in black, white & 'nude' but I don't care.

Germgirl · 02/06/2017 13:57

Ah sorry. After writing all that I see you're a 34! That'll teach me to read the whole post!

doubleristretto · 02/06/2017 15:50

The M&S one does look good however I'm pretty sure my nipples will show through the lace. I've tried on a few in M&S and they've all had too short a bottom section. I may have freakishly high and large nipples! I thought they must airbrush them out on the models? I'll have a look on the Sainsbury's website, do they show clothes on there? I think it might be quite insanitary if I dragged my sweaty self off to try some on! I'll google Yours, thank you, I've never heard of it.

Re nursing bras, I had some from M&S but they rubbed terribly. They were cotton and should have been great but somehow they just never stopped chafing my nipples. Oh dear, I'm sorry to bring up nipples again!

To clarify, I bought the nursing bras as they were pretty, cotton and with full cup coverage rather than to nurse as my children are long past that stage!

OP I am a 34F too - and have that M&S bra in pink. Can definitely recommend it Smile

ComputerUserNotTrained · 02/06/2017 16:05

Asda?

Not cotton, but cheap as chips.

Bombardier25966 · 02/06/2017 16:19

I wear the Panache Tango II and it's coped in all sorts of sticky climates!

Also very good at smoothing the old back fat Wink

DarceyBushell · 02/06/2017 16:21

You could try phoning the terribly named Ample Bosom for advice, I have bought a few bits and bobs from them. I do think, though, that cheap is going to be hard, I've never had what I'd call a cheap bra due to the enormoboobs!

DarceyBushell · 02/06/2017 16:22

In fact, if you search for cotton on their website they have a lot of options. Not many of them pretty mind!!!

doubleristretto · 02/06/2017 16:57

Ugh, well now I've put my measurements into the Miss Mary website and come out as a 36DD which would be a lot easier to buy for than a 34F! Bravissimo put me in the 34F but I suppose they all come up differently. Ample Bosom has some beauties doesn't it! I can't even think anymore, I'm going to get into the paddling pool and apply myself later! Has anyone ordered from the different companies and can advise as to how the different sizes measure up please?

MaQueen · 02/06/2017 17:49

Agree with Darcy you are very, very lucky if you find a decent, supportive CHEAP bra, for the large of nork.

kaytee87 · 03/06/2017 07:17

Try curvy Kate

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 03/06/2017 07:32

I hav not bought bras mail order, but be very careful about the discrepancy between Bravissimo 's sizing and others. IME places that fit you with a bigger back and smaller cup tend to get it wrong. Bravissimo are very reliable IME.

I'm incredibly fussy about my bras, and while my Freya Idol isn't made the way you (and I) would like, it still fits your wearing criteria: not sweaty, doesn't show high nipples, comfortable on the back. I'm a dreadful Sweaty Betty, but my bras don't suffer!

doubleristretto · 03/06/2017 12:25

I have found this Masquerade bra on Amazon for £6.95. It's 23% cotton and at that price may be worth a punt? What do you think? I think I've bought Masquerade in the past but couldn't swear to it. I looked on Curvy Kate but couldn't find exactly the right thing for the pennies I'm hoping to shell out (!) although I love their bra fitting guide so thank you very much for the recommendation. I found the Freya Idol on John Lewis at a price match price of £23, I hope that helps someone Smile

OP posts:
kaytee87 · 03/06/2017 13:02

I doubt a bra that cheap would offer any support at all.

doubleristretto · 03/06/2017 14:22

Masquerade turn out to be by Panache which I'm pretty sure I've bought in Bravissimo in the past so ought to be ok? At that price I'm giving it a go anyway! If anyone's a 28FF I've seen bargain of the century on secretsales.com with 24% cotton!

OP posts:
blodynmawr · 03/06/2017 14:37

Double please report back on whether your bargain find is any good Smile. I have tried cheap supermarket styles in the past but have found the hooks break off or the wires poke through within one or two wears..... IME my granny's 'buy cheap buy twice' mantra has always been true when it comes to bras Sad.... The M&S one I linked to is really comfy and the cup material is quite thick, minimising nipple show. I bought it with a 20% off code; not sure if there are any current M&S codes around.
I quite fancy the Miss Mary styles linked above so may investigate....

sunnyhills · 03/06/2017 15:11

Not what you asked but I slaver myself in liquid talc which helps control the sweat .

Crunchyside · 03/06/2017 15:13

I'm only a D cup but currently pregnant so they feel huge. Round the house if I'm not seeing anyone I go bra free...

Deathraystare · 03/06/2017 15:39

Doesn't M&S do a 'Doreen' type bra that is cotton. Not foxy I know but still....
