Contact lens success stories?

I hate wearing glasses. I feel so grumpy even though I've got a nice pair that suit my face.

I've tried contacts and can wear them for a few hours but then have to take them out as they feel so gritty. I'm on Acuvue daily moist.

Anyone had the same issue and managed to find a pair of contacts that they can wear all day?

Have started googling eye laser surgery but it freaks me out a bit 😬

I'm with specsavers but may try another optician if anyone says they've had any success stories.

Ah wow brilliant thank you. Hmm lots of info there. I used to wear specsaver monthlies in the past but had trouble with those. I do have the dry eyes so will try harder with drops. And I'm going to ask to test out a few of these brands mentioned. Cross fingers!!

I just feel like I've let myself go a bit with two young kids to look after and I want to feel nice about myself again. I don't mind my glasses but def feel less mumsy without them, particularly if I haven't had a chance to put any make up on either.

Thank you!!

Have you tried dry eye drops?.

I use oasys. No issues.

Just to clarify, I use monthlies but take them out each evening. Can't imagine keeping them in for a whole month

I kept them in overnight for the whole month when my DC was a baby as I needed to be able to see when getting up in the night (I'm -12 in glasses so can't see past the end of my nose) and it was easier than fumbling for glasses in the dark. I also broke my glasses once by going back to bed with them on. Stopped once they were sleeping through the night though.

I have dry eyes too, and I've tried several types of dailies; someone somewhere recommended Daysoft, and I've been wearing them for the last two months. They're really comfortable and I am going to continue using them. They're also very reasonably priced. (I don't work for them by the way!). Just google Daysoft.

Look at ortho k lenses as well perhaps. Generally it's the independent opticians that do them rather than the chains. I had horrendous dry eyes with softs and tried all sorts including monthlies and disposables. I finally switched to ortho k three years ago and they've been brilliant. You put them in at bedtime and take them out in the morning and have perfect vision all day. They're a bit uncomfortable to get used to but you're asleep when they are in so it's ok! I love mine and wouldn't go back to daytime lenses for anything now.

Dailies Total one, best lens you can get.

My understanding of Ortho K is that they are reshaping your cornea over night. You then don't wear them during the day.

Long term wearing of them acts like laser surgery without the need for surgery.

Try lots of different lenses. My optician let me try six different pairs before I found the best pair for me (they are monthlies btw)
