Philips lumea

I've read a few threads about the Philips lumea and have been browsing online this morning. The SC2007/00 is £270 in Boots and John lewis. Boots says this is sale price. Is there much difference with the more expensive models?
Thinking I need to take the plunge as daily leg shaving driving me mad. I really only want it for legs.

I can't help with the Philips Lumea, but I bought a SmoothSkin Bare for £200 at the start of this year and haven't looked back. I have very fair skin and dark hair, and the constant waxing/covering my legs was expensive and a full time job in the summer! I've used it every week and am pretty much hair free now. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Following! I've been thinking about getting laser done but wondered if this might be an easier to fit around children option.

I have the SC2009/00, the models are discontinued and replaced by newer versions with some added features but IIRC the difference was that the 2009 had 3 attachments (face, body, bikini) and the 2007 had two and another one 2005 (?) had just the body attachment. If the 1997 or 1999 models are available I'd consider getting one of those as they're cheaper due to being corded but otherwise exactly the same as the 2007/2009 models. You usually have to do two charges with the cord free ones as it just about manages a leg and a half on one battery.

Also, there have been users on here who failed to read the instruction manual that specifies that even when not using you have to recharge the device monthly otherwise the battery might die (and it did in some earlier models, I assume the new model has fixed this, it's also cordless but you can use it with the charging cord attached too which is an improvement on the old one). I think in terms of functionality and number of flashes it doesn't differ much from the old (discontinued) models.

I just bought that one but was originally going to buy a slightly cheaper one (I think the 1997 version). The difference was that the bulb in the cheaper one was meant to last for 100,000 flashes and that one was meant to last 250,000 flashes. I figured that was important as I would want to do my legs and keep them topped up.

I'll have to run upstairs and check which one I got recently, but it was in the £200 bracket.
It recommends that you use it every 2 weeks for the first 2 months, and I have used it twice now, so a month in. It's definitely made a difference. I haven't shaved under my arms in a week and there is only a tiny bit of bum fluff there. Same with my legs. Bikini line isn't quite as good, but probably will take longer. Definitely thinning out though.
So glad I invested in one.

How hairy are you all?

I am very hairy. Dark, coarse particularly bikini line. Would it work on me? Is it sore!?

My lumea was just under £200 i think. it has taken a while to work, I've had it a year, but haven't used constantly. Anyway, I had a break from it over the winter but my leg hair hardly grew back at all, I really did go from shaving every day on my legs to hardly at all now. Underarms and bikini are taking more time, but it's getting there, I'd say it takes at least 3 months treatment for those areas (I've very dark coarse hair/pale skin), but my hair is super fast growing. Looking forward to shaving bikini less!

It's not sore if there is no hair showing. Honestly, if there is it's a snap, and that's only on my bikini cos I can never get it 100% hair free. Last time because the hair had reduced I was able to shave better before hand so didn't feel a thing. I've never felt a thing on legs, underarm, or face.

This isn't true for my cordless one at all. 1 Charge is plenty for face, underarms and legs.

Sorry for derailing but a quick question for users with the fair skin-dark/coarse hair. What setting do you use it at? I've been building it up and am now at 3 but not seeing much difference overall. Should I just wallop it up to 5 instead of gradual increase each time?

I've always used mine on the highest setting. I was V hairy though.

It tells you in the booklet what setting you should have it on.
I am fair with dark hair, and I tan moderately, and use the suggested setting No.4.
It doesn't hurt.
I wouldn't say I was hairy, just average I guess.

Always 5 for me. Mine is corded, no recharge hassles.
