I'm a really freckley person- HATED them growing up. Felt very self conscious and tried to cover them with lots of foundation despite having no trouble with spots etc. I have learned to accept them over the years but all of a sudden at the age of 25 I've started to get new ones?? On my face, ears, chest, hands? I can feel the self loathing creeping back again Sad please if anyone knows any creams or lotions to help fade them I will be forever in your debt Flowers

I was blessed with them in abundance. I absolutely hated them as a child was called 'freckle face' what seemed my whole childhood. My worst was as a teenager, going out to the local disco, and they put on that uv light.... oh gawd, it magnified them 100 fold.

But as I have become older I have made peace with them. They have lightened over the years.

I do live in a hot country, so in summer they do spring to life again. I suppose I just wouldn't be me without them.

I did see a temporary tattoo that you can buy to add freckles to you nose and face. I was quite shocked when I saw it, and realized now, that for once, I am now 'in' Grin

Just embrace them OP...Grin

Freckles are beautiful! Love the skin you're in.

Leilaniii · 31/05/2017 12:33

You can get rid of freckles and if you hate them that much, then you should look into it. I hate all this well-meaning patronizing nonsense about 'accepting yourself as you are'. Sorry don't mean to offend anybody.

There is a doctor in Australia called Dr Naomi . She is an expert in freckle removal. It's probably too far for you, but there might be another doctor in your town using the same technology.

Did anyone else notice in pregnancy that their freckles went into overdrive? Mine really darkened. They are light tan colour again now and not so noticeable but my goodness I had a row of very dark freckles across my nose and over my cheeks in pregnancy. I miss them.

Spf 50 every day, especially in the summer. Lemon juice doesn't do anything. Apparently there is some liquid normally used to whiten teeth that can help to fade the biggest freckles. Google it, not sure what it was called. Haven't tried it so I don't know if it works. Temporary measure is to cover them with a tattoo covering makeup, u can get a pen and just cover the biggest ones. Laser treatment apparently works but it's expensive.

ladyratterley · 31/05/2017 12:55

You can have a laser treatment to get rid of them. A friend of mine had this. I thought she was absolutely bonkers!
If I remember correctly it was rather expensive, she had to have about four treatments and she has to use a very high factor sunscreen to try to avoid them coming back. Crazy...

The stuff about learn to embrace them etc is so annoying... I'm very freckly and have decided i want to get rid of them and have done a lot of research..

I second wearing sunscreen every single day. I wear dermalogica factor 50. I believe you need a "broad spectrum" one so not the standard ones off the shelf in boots etc. I noticed my freckles still got darker in the sun even wearing (regular loreal) high spf Sad

So literally every day you have to cover up or wear spf. That will help to stop new ones coming and the existing ones get darker..

I have tried IPL and had some success but not managed to completely get rid. Am going for something more intense and ££ next which is Fraxel laser...apparently its really effective but the freckles can return. The Dr at sk:n i had my consultation with said the pigment in your skin has a kind of memory so will want to recreate the previous pattern Shock but im going for it anyway, and will just repeat it.. Even tho its ££££

So anyway i dont think there is a magic fade cream sadly..but there are options. I felt ok with mine (face arms shoulders) for years but suddenly last year i decided i hate them and feel disgusting. So im getting rid, and if i miss them they will probably come back again anyway.or i can go in the sun

Sorry for long post!

Well, I am a lot happier having embraced them! Grin

I suppose it is one of those very personal things, isn't it? We each of us have to decide what the lesser evil is: forever fighting against something that we have a predisposition towards or making our peace with it. I am too lazy and too tight to go down the route of whatever treatments for something that is ultimately futile Grin

I've always had freckles, my aunt always said they are 'fairy kisses'. I like that idea!

BusterGonad · 01/06/2017 09:25

I think the only thing you can do without spending £££ is Fade out cream and a heavy foundation!

N0tfinished · 01/06/2017 12:18

I faded mine over the winter using Vit C Serum (try The Ordinary) acid toner & high SPF. Was feeling v smug. Then the first sunny week, they came back with a vengeance Hmm

N0tfinished · 01/06/2017 12:22

Sorry, posted too soon

If they're causing you this much distress then I think you should see a private Dermatologist. There are real medicated creams that can help.

Fraxel laser is v interesting to me. See informative video

I'd love to fade mine, but budget doesn't Allow right now.
