Best moisturiser for very dry skin

Agh I'm having a nightmare with my damn face!! For the past 12 months I've tried all sorts of moustutisrrs from Nivea to Chanel and everything in between! I'm now sat here with E45 lotion on my face!
I get dry patches on my cheeks and as my foundation wears off(again tried all sorts(using Armani now)) I end up with orange patches-attractive!
So, anyone know of any magic lotions or potions that will fix this? It's really p*ssing me off now!
I'm 35 if this helps. Cheers

I have long suffered with dry skin and allergies to a lot of things in today's cosmetics.

Short of anything else I have been using vaseline as a moisturiser for years and it does the trick.

DoItTooJulia · 21/05/2017 15:15

Aveeno. And only aveeno for me.

SheShellsSeaSells · 21/05/2017 15:31

Vaseline is my next one to try. Can obviously only use that at night as it would probably look a bit dodgy under makeup!

Lush Celestial or Sukin facial moisturiser

The it thing that's works for me is skin food (weleda) on my face. Nivea blue tub helps keep it ok. It's very rich but really good. I've got very sensitive skin as well but it works wonders!

Also look at The Ordinary range and see the recommendations for your skin type. It's good stuff!

I have very dry skin and am prone to patches. What has really helped has been acid toning to exfoliate, then using Clarins Blue Orchid oil and a rich moisturiser - either Origins or Nip and Fab bee sting cream.

I moisturise with almond oil at night. My dry skin is then lovely the next day

I have extremely dry skin and use Nivea blue every night. By accident I recently discovered Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil over the top of my face cream and serum is a miracle worker for my skin. It doesn't clog it but leaves my skin soft, plump and glowing to the point of which friends started asking if I'd had surgery/procedures Hmm Grin.

Its quite thick and floppy, and takes a while to soak in (usually about an hour for me) but I put it on first thing in the morning (if I don't haver to be up about about early) and about an hour later do my makeup, or if I need to be up and about I do it at night. I have no idea whether its just a fluke, but its the only thing I've changed about my skincare/health and I've been doing it for three weeks now with great success.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 15:50

Oh yes and I use Clarine Beauty Flash balm under my foundation/bb cream, it took me a while to get the knack of applying it, I thought it was pants at first, but now I love it.

allegretto · 21/05/2017 15:50

Dr Hauschka face mask twice a week has really helped hydrate my dry skin.

Softkitty2 · 21/05/2017 15:51

How about using a water based moisturiser that you already have and putting an oil based/serum on top of it.

Or maybe change your diet and add more oily fish / avocado etc

missanony · 21/05/2017 15:52

Vichy aqualia thermal

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 15:53

You need layers.

I use a serum, then a hyaluronic acid something, usually Moisture Surge and then a thin layer of moisturiser.

SheShellsSeaSells · 21/05/2017 15:55

Great advice so far. Keep it coming xx

I have dry, eczema prone skin and have used Vichy Nutrilogie 2 for years. I very rarely get dry patches or eczema on my face since using it. Plus I think it has halted the wrinkles a bit!

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 21/05/2017 16:05

Simple moisturiser and coconut oil (and nothing but simple soap on my skin )

BusterGonad · 21/05/2017 16:09

I have dry sensitive skin and now realize that anything trendy or faddy is a waste of time. I either use Aveeno in the tube, Astral is a favorite and Nivea blue. Pure vitamin E oil is a god send too. But the biggest thing for me is to cleanse with a cream all over my face than wiped off with damp cotton wool pads. I never use face wash and I only exfoliate once a week. To strip your skin with harsh chemical cleansers imo is the worst thing you can do to it.

IsadoraQuagmire · 21/05/2017 16:17

I've got very dry skin and I use Eucerin, I really like it.

NovaArt3mis · 21/05/2017 16:18

A couple of years ago I decided to give Dermalogica a go after a lifetime of dry cheeks and temples (think my one is called intensive moisture or similar).

Only problem is the price! About £50 for 100ml but you only need to use a small amount and it soaks in really well. I manage to make mine last about 9-12 months and use it every day. It works brilliantly for me but admittedly is quite alot to pay when you don't know it'll definitely suit your skin.

Also use a homemade sugar scrub to exfoliate every so often.
