I am a new Mum, my baby is 4 months old. I decided the other day, after another wee/poo/sick stained outfit that I am only going to wear boring jeans and t shirts. Especially as I spend so much time on the floor. I don't wear make up, so I fear this is taking plainness to a frightening degree. Likewise jewellry gets pulled by adorable baby and dresses (my favourite) are a no-no because of nork access.
What are other people's style solutions? I wanna look nice and need to accessorise the circles under my eyes.
Plus, I wish someone had told what a waste of time and money so-called 'breast feeding' tops are. After about 4 weeks, ALL tops are 'breastfeeding' tops, even if your dad is there or you are on the tube.

I've been wearing more skirts for just the reason you give (boobs access). This one worked well because its washable and one size fits all, and it seems to be on sale at the site I got it from.

I now, almost without realising it, divide all clothes into 'nork access/no access' and ignore anything in the latter category. my mother keeps saying 'but you won't always be breastfeeding', but I'm not actually sure that that's true.

CODalmighty · 15/03/2007 17:08

you wont

You're fine with jeans and t-shirts so long you carry the right attitude. Hopefully your tees are nicely fitted ones and not loose ones!!
It really is too impractical to wear jewellery when you have a baby who's going to tug at you all the time. I always think mums (of young babies) who wear jewellery as trying-too-hard. But a nice bold ring can prop up your outfit. And perhaps a smart coat/jacket? And what about a really trendy holdall.
Agree with you about BF tops - I too wish someone told me they were a complete waste of money!!

Jeans aren't yummy

I'm devastated .....

MrsBadger · 15/03/2007 21:28

jeans and fitted tshirts are fine
but wear boots not trainers
nice coat
good bag
brushed hair

everything else is windowdressing when you have a tiny

You could wear a breastfeeding necklace. It's supposed to give the baby's hands something to fiddle with (rather than your nipple, not at 4 months but it will happen later). My DD's interest in the BF necklace was v limited, but it IS made of sturdy materials and I like wearing it when I'm at work as it reminds me of DD.
