I don't understand really expensive sunglasses

I mean sunglasses all look pretty much the same to me from a quality pov.

They are usually plastic of some sort, get broken, shoved in bag, sat on and lost under the car seat.

Anything over a tenner is a waste of money isn't it?

Nip -I have a similar problem. I think I've either got wonky ears or wonky eyebrows as they never seem to sit right on me

Aloha - Yes kissed goodbye to my Prada's in South of France as I lay on my stomach to look over the edge of a sheer drop into the see below.

And my Gucci's fell off my head as I crossed Great Portland Street and I turned back to see a Range Rover approaching. I screached 'STOOOOP" and he did, right on them! I still picked them up and carried them round in my bag for a week afterwards!

Also lost a pair of DKNYs somewhere along the way, after a night out, i had them on my head when the evening started and they weren't there in the morning!

Aloha - PMSL - yes the happy hands were truly happy as she 'painted' her sister in soot!

Tutter · 15/03/2007 14:25

you see i used to agree

but then i bought myslef some expensive ones

they are so much better - they fit for a start. and keep their shape, despite on-top-of-head wearing. no squeaks. oh yes, and the fact that they look good

I have to say that marks and Spencers are doing some rather fine styles this year and even last.
I was in the optician today looking at Designer ones as they are rather essential all year round where we live, but the current more aviator style trend looks rubbish on me,
M&S next door were all fab LM 10 to LM12 here, so 17 to 20 quid in the UK??
can't do links, and don't know if they are on their website, but would heartily reccomend a peek.

TeeCee · 15/03/2007 14:29

Have to say it is boring when that bloody screw holding the arms on keeps coming out. I've run out of opticians to keep taking my glasses back to now, I feel bad that I only ever go in with another cheap pair of plastic shades and ask them to fix them for me, again!

TinyGang · 15/03/2007 14:37

You can buy a little screwdriver/keyring thingy from most opticians or somewhere like Boots.

Keeps the screws tightened on your glasses.

I don't understand really expensive plastic myself.

hoolagirl · 15/03/2007 14:50

Yes I have a pair of expensive sunglasses!
From TK Maxx for £20 quid haha!
And that's more than expensive enough for me!

friendlyedjit · 15/03/2007 14:53

am really tight!
i but spex both prescription daily and sunglasses on-line. Much cheaper, and have been fab so far.

TinyGang · 15/03/2007 14:59

Where do you buy your prescription glasses online friendlyedjit?

I've got two pairs of prescription sunglasses but they look awful on me. I try not to wear them too often.

I am not meant to have expensive sunglasses. Years ago, I lost two pairs of raybans in the same airport half way across the world on two separate occasions (the only two times I had been to that country).
Don't buy expensive ones anymore.

friendlyedjit · 15/03/2007 18:20

hi tinygang

use www.goggles4u.com and www.optical4less.com have had no probs with either-
got prescription sunglasses for opticals and am sooooo trendy!!!
all you need is prescription from opticians with pupillary distance and then you fill in details on line or fax through to them . They're based in pakistan and hong kong.
