Is this what they mean about choosing between arse and face? Weight loss.

Almost 40, have recently lost weight and am the slimmest I've been in 6 years since having 2 kids. Still one more stone to go. The thing is that this week I've noticed the skin hanging down on my eyelids. It's never been there before and like I need an eye job. One eye in particular looks very hooded. The rest of my face looks older too. I guess I'll get used it but it's quite a sudden change. Does this mean that before the fat in my face was propping everything up?

Botox injected into the throat works really well on a turkey neck

Ohyesiam · 13/05/2017 22:38

Google Carolin's Facial Fitness. And don't tell anyone I told youWink

In the words of the great Barbra Cartland, when asked whether a gal should keep their face or their figure, she said "Keep your face and stay sitting down."

Word.

Tanfastic · 13/05/2017 22:44

I'm the same, have lost 17 pound and suddenly turkey neck has emerged. I'm 44 and I'm the top of my BMI so really want to lose another ten pound.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/05/2017 22:58

Same here. That extra stone on my arse is really in the interest of my face.

You don't need to get super fat. For me size 12-14 is good (not vanity sizing). 10 is ageing. 16 is too fat. It's different for everyone.

Crikey so it really is a time to eat a few donuts!

Or healthy fats, salmon, almonds etc. (I'll take a donut)

KoalaDownUnder · 14/05/2017 01:59

I dunno. I disagree with the premise of these threads. I think most people look younger overall without excess weight, regarfkrss of age. #justmethen

Rockaby · 14/05/2017 06:59

Not just you koala! I think I definitely look younger at about 10st 7lbs which puts me in the middle of a healthy bmi range (that just tried to autocorrect tonhealthy bum range Grin). If I'm a lot lighter than that, like I used to be, i don't look very nice. I don't understand why anyone would choose to be an unhealthy weight though. It's more a matter of being healthy and not super skinny for me. That's when I look best (and actually always has been - I was in my early twenties when I was at my slimmest and even then I didn't look great for it).

Girlywurly · 14/05/2017 07:36

I agree Koala. I've seen the odd thin woman who has looked very aged, but that's always been to do with smoking/excessive sun exposure.

I think it's better to be slim, if you can.

SorrelSoup · 14/05/2017 07:52

It's definitely better to be slim and healthy. I've got bad family history health wise so want to be in my bmi and strong. My face looked awful fat, it was just a big wide balloon with no features. It looks better now but just surprised at this seemingly overnight aging! Bit of a shock!

It may be the speed or amount you have lost weight.
It also may settle in time.
Skin is elastic but if it stretched by weight then you lose weight it may just be looser for a while.
I think slim generally looks younger.

Increasinglymiddleaged · 14/05/2017 08:05

I look younger slim, definitely. After I had dd2 at 35 I looked like a middle aged mother. Once I lost by the baby weight I could wear nicer clothes rather than looking frumpy. And I'm only taking bmi 26 to normal 22.

saladsmoothie · 14/05/2017 08:08

I lost 17kg and words cannot express the fury I feel at my new turkey neck. The utter unfairness of it!

Xmasbaby11 · 14/05/2017 08:12

This explain why I am fat and look young! I'm 41 and have smooth skin and no wrinkles, but on the other hand I have a double chin and round face.

I'd rather be slim though, for health reasons, also it looks better.

Rockaby · 14/05/2017 08:33

Just to add, I was really, really chubby (borderline obese) in my teens and I dressed and felt very frumpy and looked a lot older than I was. I've never been as fat as that since as I felt awful. It didn't suit me at all.

TheMightyMing · 14/05/2017 08:38

Yep I am 46 and ten stone. I used to be obsessed with being 9.5 stone but I go to the gym everyday and I'm a size 10, slimmer than I was on slimming world at my target of 9 stone 2 . I've managed to retain a bit of weight on my face which helps with the inevitable ageing .
