Cost to resize a dress

I've seen a dress I love to wear to a wedding. The only problem is, is that they only have an 8 left and I'm a 10 ☹️ Anyone any clue how much it would cost to size up a dress? I'm attaching a picture of the dress.

it will depend whether there is enough material in the seams to let it out. and where it needs letting out. have you tried on the 8?

It's on the bust area really, the rest is okay. I even wondered if they could put in some plain black inserts as the sides to allow some give? I haven't tried it on as it's online but I have other dresses by the same brand and am a 10 in the brand.

It will be difficult to scale it up I would guess - high street garments are made with very little seam allowance in order to be most efficient with fabric (so save on costs). If there's not enough fabric you can't make it bigger. Oth, some clothing brands run large. I'd try the eight and see if it fits. But most dressmakers would tell you it can't be done to make bigger, unless you put in additional panels of a different fabric. Which would look weird.

its much easier to size down and take something in. is there a larger size still available. I think some inserts could also be quite expensive in terms of the work needed to make the adjustment.

It would prob take a while to size up a dress with panels, so maybe £50-80? But you will have to change the nature of the dress. I'd look for another one. Or find a similar fabric and get one made, which would be as much as buying and altering the dress probably.
