Talk to me about socks

Over the last couple of years I've really struggled to find comfortable socks. I didn't know if I have stupid toes, but I find the seem on the toe rubs and after a short period really starts to hurt.

So I tend to wear my socks inside out, much to the amusement of DP. The problem With doing that is that the crease is then the wrong way round and rubs the front of my middle toe, and it's really uncomfortable.

Does such a thing as seem free socks exist? I have big feet (size 7) so often struggle to find ladies socks to fit.

Any ideas? The only socks I've found that don't cause my overly sensitive toes and discomfort is thick woolly winter socks, but with summer coming I can't wear them, and I can't bare another summer constantly feeling uncomfortable.

Don't get me started on socks with seams. Its a cheap way of making socks foreign imports. I used to work in the sewing industry and had friends who had worked at the sock factories (now nearly all gone) and the old machines are the ones that 'weave' the toe in at the front, or something

I buy Pringle, mostly the trainer socks but they have no seam. I do wear some cheaper ones but wear them inside out.

I think you can filter seem free socks on that site

Hand Linked Seams

I've just looked and my Pringle ones are made in China so there are some better quality.... My 5 for £2 Sainsbury have definitely got the horrid seam. I have some thick winter cable socks with a lovely fluffy cuff...and the seam is so big it rubbed a line across my toes

Learn to knit? Or find someone who can knit you some?

I have size 7 feet and have been wearing men's socks for the past few years. They are so much more comfortable because there is more room in them and they take longer to wear out because they're not as stretched over my feels. There endeth my top tip.

MTBMummy · 08/05/2017 17:36

Thanks Old Raver - thats great will definitely check Pringle socks out

Sp glad I'm not alone in this

Secret I wish, I have tried knitting many times, but it one craft I seem completely unable to do, I sew and cross stitch but Knitting is just something I think I lack the coordination to do.

Thanks Hariq I have started buying mens socks, but I do still struggle with the seem, you're right about them lasting longer though

Hairq and Eat....My OH is the opposite..size 6 dainty feet and the standard mens 6-8 there was too much sock for him. He now has ladies of childrens 4-6. Well we sorta share socks now though not my Bridgedales

MTBMummy · 10/05/2017 13:36

I'm very particular about my Bridgedales - probably the only socks I currently love.

That said DP just bought me these www.morvelo.com/fuck-cancer-socks.html?gclid=CN6Uyqer5dMCFaa77QodjNEAHQ I have high hopes that I can wear them the right way round as I just love them
