Need help with an interview outfit for late May/early June, please!

I'm hoping I may get a couple of interviews for jobs I'm currently applying for and these will be at the end of the month; there may be other jobs and other interviews a bit later, in June.

I don't have any spring/summer clothes suitable for an interview so need to get something new, but don't want to spend too much.

I'm an awkward pear shape and find it difficult to get skirts and trousers to fit, so wear mainly dresses. I've found some simple navy dresses on the Next site, but what would you put over them? I've been looking at blazers but would need a different colour - grey? Or paler blue?

Also, what colour shoes? Navy, tan, brown?

If I get the job, the dress code's likely to be smart-casual, but I know I need to be smart for the interview.

Any advice greatly appreciated...

I went for an interview yesterday and got the job.

I wore smart black trousers and a pink patterned blouse also smart, black heels. Hair and make up all done.

I didn't have a jacket (weather was nice though), I don't think you always need a jacket.

Good luck!

Thanks - congratulations!

I have quite a smart, light weight coat so I could always wear a scarf with the dress and just take the coat off as soon as I arrive. I will definitely do hair and make-up.

I have a couple of reasonable outfits that are ok in this weather but in 3 or 4 weeks it should hopefully be noticeably warmer and sunnier and they'll look out of place (and I'll probably be too hot).

I might consider a floral cardigan. It moves the dress away from the pure corporate look and makes more of a personal statement. You could then pick a bag to complement the cardi. I do not like random jackets. Not grey and I assume you cannot match the navy. Possibly a cream/navy mix jacket would work. Zara did one that was 3/4 length and it walked out apparently. Maybe a navy/cream tweed would work too - a Chanel style. These are smarter than the cardi idea so depends what you think it appropriate. Wear simple jewellery and navy shoes would be chic. If not navy, neutral. LK Bennett do perfect ones.

Thanks bojorojo.

I've seen a floral kimono in Zara that might look good, plus a couple of jackets - might order them all and see whether any look ok.
