Very dull shoe question - people with low boredom thresholds required

I work in a very formal office and keep some pairs of skyscraper heels to wear there.

I need something to walk in for my commute (at least 2 x 10 minutes but often lots more depending on school run/errands, including hills, cobbles, grass) but not trainers because I frequently and unpredictably need to go to other offices or social events and travel home from there, so I need my commuting shoes to be adequately respectable.

In the winter I just wear riding boots with insoles which are perfect, but not in May. I currently have a pair of cheap fugly M&S footglove wedges which are showing their age. Does anyone have any suggestions for comfy supportive respectable-looking black leather work shoes? Cheap would be good but expensive is possible - both my knees and my feet are playing me up at the moment and need some TLC.

I wear brogues with everything at work - skirts, dresses and trousers. I have 3 pairs, in navy, pewter and black.

I'd look at Geox, Ecco, Shoon, FitFlop, Clarks, Cloggs for decent quality, comfortable/smart shoes.

2nd how comfy the clarks un loop shoes are. Lots of hospital staff, not just nurses, wear them. They aren't attractive though, but you can't have everything

I have four pairs of these Fitflop Oxford shoes. They are perfect for work as they are really comfy with a bouncy sole but smart and not too wide so they are dainty enough to wear with skirts. I bought up 4 pairs as they are sold out on their website now and I was worried they'd get discontinued! You can find still them on other retailer websites though.

Yikes to some of these!

A friend has got these ballet shoes and says they are v comfortable. They're v plain, and far less offensive than some on here!

Or go for a pair of DMs maybe? They even do a few pairs with heels, and once they are broken in they are very comfortable.

Or have a look at the Hobbs clearance site.

I would buy a bigger handbag that could hold shoes, and swap my shoes. My go to heels fit in my handbag, I generally wear ballet pumps and swap as needed, but I don't walk on anything more taxing than pavement.

CormorantDevouringTime · 06/05/2017 10:12

I can't normally wear ballet pumps - they'd hurt my feet more than heels, but those Clarks jobs might just be possible. I think a trip to Clarks is definitely the way to go.

I have Clark's brogues, for skirts or for trousers. I have flat ones - plain boring colour, and some with patchwork materials. I have heeled ones too (currently on offer for £25 a pair)

I am a teacher though, so the librarian look is ok 😂
