Dupe for Emma Hardie Moringa balm anyone?

Hello...

I'm nearly out of my Moringa cleansing balm which is lovely...but I'm in money conservation mode this month and not keen on stumping up £30 for more.

Any recs for lovely heavy scented balms more in the £10-£15 range?

Don't the Body Shop do a Moringa balm?

Skyllo30 · 03/05/2017 13:59

The Body Shop one doesn't emulsify.

Lots of cheap cleansers but Emma Hardie is in a league of its own and I've not found a dupe.

SamanthaBrique · 03/05/2017 14:10

I'd avoid the heavily scented balms tbh, too much scent can irritate the skin.

Lizardlegs · 03/05/2017 14:26

@Skyllo alas that's what I suspected! Good to know if nothing else.

Clinique Take the Day Off is about £23 so probably a smidge too expensive. I prefer it to the Emma Hardie though.

Have you tried Merumaya Cleansing Balm? I really like that one.

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/05/2017 14:52

Oh and the Clinique one isn't even scented, so prob not what you're looking for.

Lizardlegs · 03/05/2017 15:29

Thanks Mitzy! It doesn't have to be scented really, but I love inhaling the Moringa balm before using it. I think this thread is doing a good job of convincing me to buy the damn balm again...

I love the Emma Hardie balm. I find it very cost effective as it lasts for a few months whereas cheaper cleansers I've bought I've ended up needing to use more of it and used it up quicker. The lady in Space NK recommended EH to me and I didn't want to look tight and ask the price so I didn't discover it was £38 until I got to the till. I nearly cried but it was such a good purchase.

OnlyEatsToast · 03/05/2017 16:02

As a cheap first cleanse you could try coconut oil?

mowglik · 03/05/2017 16:34

OP merumaya cleansing balm also has a lovely strong scent and similar texture to EH although it's a lot smoother than EH. I like it but find the EH rinses/wipes off more cleanly.

I haven't tried the elemis pro-collagen balm but it looks like it might be similar in texture and will probably have a gorgeous scent as elemis products normally do

Elemis scent reminds me of teenage discos. It smells like a mix of sweat and Lynx Grin

hettie · 03/05/2017 17:13

Body shop camomile balm.....I find it's good for melt factor/emulsifying. I ran out and purchased the pixi one, not nearly as good (too waxy). Clinique is good too. I've also tried lush ultrabalm and a boots one. Body shop has been my goto for some time now

Sciurus83 · 03/05/2017 18:24

Second body shop camomile for that price range. I have the clinique at the moment which is very nice but still up there in price. Elemis has a very strong scent

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/05/2017 19:47

M&S do a cleansing balm which is very similar - it's in their "Pure" range and costs about £10.

loveka · 03/05/2017 19:50

The Elemis one smells gorgeous! Essential oils I would say.

Love the Emma Hardie one too.

Lizardlegs · 03/05/2017 21:19

Thank you all for your advice! I'll give the Body Shop one a whirl.

Pure balm from M and S. Smells lovely

Monkeyface26 · 03/05/2017 22:10

Merumaya. It's absolutely fab. About fifteen pounds. They have their own website and Amazon sell it too. Also some larger Debenhams. It doesn't have quite such a delicious smell as EH but it does smell nice. I prefer the tube to a big jar. Hate getting balm in my fingernails from jar and worry about the hygiene, although do wash hands first. Tube good for travel too.

Lizardlegs · 03/05/2017 22:21

Gosh very tempted by the Merumaya too. Great to have choices!

This one is good (and I love EH)

mowglik · 04/05/2017 00:12

Grin mitzy

Just realised the elemis is even more expensive than EH balm so scrap that but as pps have said, merumaya is great

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 04/05/2017 08:48

Don't bother with BodyShop, I bought it as alternative to EH and Elemis (which is my favourite), I can't wait to finish the tub so I can buy the original thing again, it feels not enough balmy somehow and I suspect is essential oil-light. The balms last for ages so I decided I'm happy to pay for them from now on

N0tfinished · 04/05/2017 19:46

As another option, Simple has a cleansing oil that's dead cheap & has nice ingredients. Takes my makeup off beautifully & leaves skin very soft. It isn't a 'treat' experience but it does the job well! I save my 'treat' cash for serums!!
