I have a question about 'plunge' bras...

If, when you first put the bra on, you have fabulous cleavage then walk about and a few minutes later it isn't a fabulous cleavage as it seems your boobs have wandered around, is it just the cup size that is too big?

Iv lost a little weight and gutted my bras seem a little big (I hoped it was just that they are old so stretched) I have just tried on a new bra and the above happens. It's nice and tight around the ribs but after a few minutes the nice cleavage has gone as my boobs seemed to have 'moved'?!?! I will go and get re measured when I can get to the shops of course... just wondered.

It might be the wrong shape for you now.
Ive lost weight recently (4st) and I've had to change from plunge style to a balcony as the plunge just didn't suit my boobs any more.

Purplerainbow · 02/05/2017 17:37

I hope not! They don't look any different at all. I wasn't overweight to start with....

Ah right. You could play around with the cup size and brand of plunge bra and see if you can get a better fit it could be the cup is a bit too big and letting your boobs settle into the bottom of the cup.

Purplerainbow · 02/05/2017 18:38

It's annoying as it's a lovely Ann summers one and I can't find one just like it! Next cup size down is sold out on that website so will have a look on their website ....

Are you sure it's the right size? I've recently remeasured using the new method and have gone from 36c to 32g. My boobs feel like they are being held quite differently - now time to experiment with some different styles of bra in the new size...

OlennasWimple · 02/05/2017 18:52

Could be

Also make sure that the straps are the right length - if they are too long, there's not enough tension to keep everything snugly inside the cup

Redken24 · 02/05/2017 18:54

After my baby have had to change to balconette bras keep falling out of t-shirt bras - annoying!

Chesterfuckingdraws · 02/05/2017 18:56

I was just coming to suggest double checking your measurements against the boob or bust measuring technique.
It really is pretty accurate.

BusterGonad · 02/05/2017 20:11

I would say the bra is the wrong size and/or style. I can't wear half cups because my boobs spill out and I can't wear balconies because I'm not full boobed at the top of my breasts. I'd personally never just order a bra on line as they always need to be tried on. One size in a style may fit well but not in another style!

Purplerainbow · 02/05/2017 22:53

It's the same style I normally wear just a different make but my bras at home are old so can't compare! What is the method you mention chester please?

Purplerainbow · 02/05/2017 23:02

Losing weight tends to mean less fat/firmness so plunges don't always sit as well, you may find a different style works better.

On a side note I've done the boob or bust measurement for the first time. I find the band to be a little on the restrictive side, most people I've fitted who come armed with their size end up being a band bigger and correspondingly a smaller cup size. It's certainly the case for my shape- I measure a 30 but am always in a Freya 32- they're known for being quite generous too.
It's definitely an improvement on the old 'add 4/5' method though so I'm not knocking it!

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 07:31

SO according to that link I'm 28 Dd and currently wearing 32c. 28?! I don't think high street sell under 30 do tbey?! Can you just go into any store armed with that size and just try some on (if they go that small!!) ?

Sounds like it may be the wrong style now you've lost weight. I can't wear plunge style after I lost weight. 28 will be harder to find but does exist and shouldn't be as hard with a DD cup, anything over this would be harder. Try bravissimo, Frasers, Debenhams, these will be your best bet for your size and you can get a fitting.

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 07:46

Such a pain. So should I not get them to measure me then, just pick up and try on different ones in this size??

What's the next alternative to plunge if you want something a little nice for nights out etc when you have a lower cut top on? I need a little padding believe it or not, my boobs do NOT look a .DD

OP posts:
Redken24 · 04/05/2017 08:44

Try a cleo lucy or juna? I have both and much better for me now.

DubiousCredentials · 04/05/2017 09:07

A dd with a 28 back isn't big. The cups go up in proportion to the back size. So a 36dd has a much bigger cup than a 28dd.

Look here for some pics.

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 13:13

Ah I see. The thing is the 32's I wear are fine, I don't wear them on the tightest and couldn't possibly wear4 inches smaller around me! That would be agony.

OP posts:
Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 13:13

red are those Ann summer ones?

OP posts:
Chesterfuckingdraws · 04/05/2017 13:36

Honestly give it a try and see how you get on. try your current bra on backwards (festering to the front, cups the the back) and see how much you can pull the band out, it shouldn't move too much maybe and inch or so. If you can pull it out more-it's too big.
Once you get the right band size then work on the cup.
What clothing size are you on top? That can be a good indicator of the size will be right.

Purplerainbow · 04/05/2017 13:38

Ok I'll try that. I'm an 8-10 depending where I shop.

Tatlerer · 04/05/2017 15:00

Purple I'm your boob buddy- 28DD here too! I also don't have very large boobs but Freya bras in that size fit really well. With your existing plunge, does the bit in the middle sit flush against your rib cage? My old ones never did- they used to stick out by a cm or so. Dead giveaway you should be going down in the band.
It is an arse to find bras in this size though- Bravissimo and Freya direct are my go-tos.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/05/2017 16:48

as a 8-10 you are certainly more likely to need a 28 back than 32
