Lycon waxing?

Is it as good as it claims to be? Virtually pain-free, etc.? I will be new to waxing so want to get the least painful option possible!!

It's not totally pain free but much less painful than traditional strip wax. Some places are more painful (for me) than others - underneath I can hardly feel it, but the top horizontal strip below my cs scar is much more sensitive.

Sparklyuggs · 03/05/2017 07:55

It's much less painful! If you are new to waxing I'd go to a salon which only does waxing- strip, ministry of waxing etc as they're experts at it, but depends where you live. After moving out of London I went to a local beauty salon who used lycon and they were good, but Strip were excellent for putting me at ease and getting me addicted to waxing

bananafish81 · 03/05/2017 08:04

Much MUCH less painful

I would now never have a non lycon bikini wax

I only have experiences with Strip and Ministry of Waxing

But anywhere with Lycon IMO is going to be a better experience than a non lycon wax

bananafish81 · 03/05/2017 08:09

I'd have regular strip wax on large areas like legs that said. Just lycon on my precious area!

PeachPants · 03/05/2017 10:48

Thank you, I'm quite far away from London but have found a Lycon-only salon very near to me, so am going to be brave and book in!

How long before going on holiday would you recommend?

If it's a bikini wax then it's Lycon only for me. First had it done at Ministry of Waxing and whilst it's not pain free it is far less painful than a strip wax which I would never go back to.

I usually have mine done 3 or 4 days before I go away as I'm quite sensitive, but my therapist always says about 48 hours is fine.

bananafish81 · 03/05/2017 13:52

If lycon isn't available then regular hot wax is still infinitely preferable to strip wax for bikini

Lycon wax > regular hot wax > strip wax for bikini.

Absolutely no way I'd let strip wax near my fanjo

PeachPants · 03/05/2017 14:17

I read about this hot wax, sounds pretty good. But the Lycon is sounding better at the moment!

Doesn't help that I'm pregnant and apparently that means more sensitive Sad I'm so scared!!

OK what's Lycon wax? If the hot wax and strip off is known as strip wax, then what's hot wax? Sorry for the idiotic questions.

NeedATrim · 03/05/2017 21:58

Glad you aaked as I have no idea either. Isn't it hot wax applied to skin, cooled, then its ripped off? No fabrics.

Flyinggeese · 03/05/2017 21:59

It depends what for. Legs - waste of money and not necessary, strip is fine. Bikini/Hollywood, definitely hot wax (I've had both Lycon and Perron Rigot. Both same result).

SunshineDeLaSoul · 03/05/2017 22:01

This sounds interesting

Flyinggeese · 03/05/2017 22:01

Why before holiday? I think at least 24 hours before exposure to chlorine or sun etc is recommended.

PeachPants · 03/05/2017 22:29

Flyinggeese just in case of any irritation in the sun/pool etc

OP posts:
Flyinggeese · 03/05/2017 22:42

Gotcha. Yes they usually say 24 hours before sun, chlorine, soap etc.

Flyinggeese · 03/05/2017 22:43

Need yes. Lycon is just a brand name. There are other hit waxes. I think Lycon just is well known as they seem to have good marketing.

PeachPants · 03/05/2017 22:48

Thank you!

Thank you for answering my question. I am fine with strip wax on my legs but find it stings my bikini line so will try Lycon or hot wax for that area next time. Is it good for under arms as that's quite a sensitive area?

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/05/2017 10:39

It's meant to be strip for back/chest/legs/arms & hot everywhere else.

Kim Lawless is bringing her own wax out soon. Someone told me she uses Perron rigot, or did before using her own.

creamcheeseandlox · 06/05/2017 13:25

I have a Hollywood wax with hot wax and even though it does still hurt i would no way on earth ever have a strip wax for a Hollywood. With hot wax they put a oil on the area to be waxed before they start so the wax only sticks to the hair not the skin. The more intimate and sensitive the area the more (I find) it hurts but I like the results and would never go back to strip waxing.
