Does anyone know of good places to buy second hand but good quality clothes? My LO grows so quickly I don't want to have to buy a brand new wardrobe every couple of months.

Gumtree is a godsend x

NotCitrus · 25/04/2017 22:10

Charity shops in wealthy areas, NCT sales.

Thanks both. I'm never sure about the quality from gumtree and eBay etc. Do you usually find them ok?

I don't buy from eBay but gumtree i do. I got a huge bag of 6-9mnth stuff last time and it was all clothes from Debenhams in great condition

Thanks Camnico I'll take a look on gumtree. A friend also recommended a website lovepreloved.com which looks good

Yeah I've used preloved before but that was to buy my dog lol. Good luck

We've got a children's charity shop in our town so the clothes appear better quality than the normal Oxfam/Sue Ryder etc shops but still at £1-3 per item you can't go wrong.
I've also bought lots off eBay and they've been really good items. If you see a listing for 20 items at 99p you may get some pieces not to your liking but people don't generally put up for sale stained or unusable clothing. Look for the small bundles where each item is photographed individually. Or type in a brand name - the items are usually better looked after as they've been worn for best only due to the cost of them.

Nct sales, mum2mum markets. Can haggle a bit at these too.

Second charity shops in wealthy areas but they can sometimes take the piss with prices. My local fara thinks nothing of charging £5 for a worn out Monsoon top for example

RadiatorWatch · 03/05/2017 16:33

I use eBay, like tea I buy off sellers who post loads of pictures, and Ines who write a lot in the description with lots of detail. Also check their feedback. I haven't really had a bad bundle from eBay, I've had the odd item in a bundle which I've thought 'one for the bin' but not often. Plus even if it's not to my taste/in the best condition it gets worn a painting clothes or mud clothes in the garden.

If your in the south, look out for Little Pickles markets, similar to NCT sales.

I have just bought a bundle for DGD all really good makes.

Shpock sells nice second hand clothes

I was going to start selling DS2 clothes on there in bundles when he was done wearing them. They look brand new even though DS1 (now 20 months) has worn them and now DS1 (3 months)

Also primary sell cheap clothes tankers are £1.80 and they have funny slogans like
'I still live with my parents'
'I am a trouble maker and I get away with'
'My mum is awesome'
'Well done Dad I am gorgeous'

BusyBee2017 · 08/05/2017 16:45

Sorry that is Primark
Not primary

NCT sales are definitely a winner for the under 5s. And if you visit all the local charity shops in your area you'll get a sense of which ones are worth a regular visit for children's clothes and which aren't. Fara's specialist children's shops are very expensive IME but I have had the odd good thing from there. Local church fete may be good.

I've just done a sweep of the charity shops for my dc which I do now and again. Easier for ds as he's 2 but getting a bit harder for Dd as she's needing clothes in 5,6,7 now which are harder to come my. Nevertheless I spent 16.50 in two shops today and got the following in excellent condition

Boden summer skirt
Next tshirt short sleeve
Next tshirt long sleeve (a bit big but will put away)
Next zip up hoodie for next winter

2x m&s fleece jumpers
3x m&s long sleeve tshirts
1x mothercare long sleeve tshirt
1x H&M jumper
1x m&s thin jumper.

It took me a while to dig around and had to get through a lot of overpriced supermarket stuff first, but loads of stuff if you have the patience to have a good look and hardly worn.
