Extremely disappointed with Marks and Spencers children's clothes.

I have £40 M&S vouchers, which I was going to use for ds2's first birthday.

I found one pack of vests in his size (which I didn't like)

Loads of slurry coloured jeans, combats, long sleeved tee shirts. No bright, 'little' boy colours at all. They we too slurry-ish for my 4 year old, never mind my 1 year old.

I am really displeased, I made a 20 mile train trip to go there, and there was frankly more choice in primark

Boys clothes are complete crappola atm.

I have looked everywhere for ds and found nothing but camouflage trousers, chinos in Gap and jeans.

Let me know if you do find some decent things wont you.

TooTicky · 10/03/2007 16:57

They have started doing some fairtrade stuff though.

Yes they have started selling fair trade stuff - one skater boy top and some plain white pants

Oh wow, I could have written the thread title. I was in M&S today looking for a normal little girl's dress for dd. The only dresses they had were hideous - sort of mini adult styles, revolting colours and frankly tarty.

The only swimming trunks for older boys were navy blue. I know ds1 (10) is too old for dinosaurs and aliens, but would some brighter colours be so hard to do?

HEIFER · 10/03/2007 17:03

Spend the vouches on their food...

Agree children clothes are crapola...

Not looked online though... (off I trot to look)...

TooTicky · 10/03/2007 17:04

They have more than that online Colditz.

DG, for variety you can't beat ebay!

DumbledoresGirl · 10/03/2007 17:05

Ebay for swimming trunks?

DumbledoresGirl · 10/03/2007 17:05

Anyway, I find sizing so difficult, I like to be able to try before I buy.

TooTicky · 10/03/2007 17:06

Absolutely DG, why not? (Btw I looked at your profile and your children look so lovely)

TooTicky · 10/03/2007 17:07

Sizing is a nightmare but trying on in hot shops is worse.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/03/2007 17:07

Thank you. When I get really bored, I might change the pics.

colditz · 10/03/2007 20:25

have looked all over website. Have decided to save the vouchers for ds1's school uniform (sob) and forget about the baby clothes. The only ones I remotely like are too small.

I thought it was just me, not getting the fashion at the moment.

I would spend the £40 on some nice food and go to John Lewis instead (if funds permit).

fireflyfairy2 · 10/03/2007 22:37

I got some lovely clothes for ds (2) today in Penneys/Primark.

Lovely light blue t-shirt with a small pocket on it. A nice plain green one too. Nothing too mad or too old for him. They were only about 2euro too so nice & a bargain!!

gemmiegoatlegs · 10/03/2007 22:41

Buy a cake and some champagne with the Mand S vouchers, and resign yourself to the clothes shops wishing to deck your baby boy out as a member of the armed forces.

John Lewis was no better for me yesterday WCL, although I admit I was looking at clothes for teenage boys, not little children's things. I used to worship the ground on which JL stood but now I can't find anything to spend £15 of vouchers on!
