My hair is ruined, advice needed!

Since having some colour stripped out of my hair & then having it bleached it's absolutely terrible, it's so dry, it gets knotted so so easily. It was thick to start with but I'm pregnant so I think it's just got drier & thicker.
I'm at the point now where I can't even get my tangle teezer through it, it's completely knotted. I've washed it tonight & put some conditioner in it to leave in over night, it's only cheap stuff though so doubt it'll do any good. I wanted to get it cut tomorrow to make it more manageable & get rid of some of the dry/knotty ends but obviously can't go anywhere in this state.

Any miracle products I can put on it so I'll be able to get a brush through it? Will it get worse if I just put a brown over it once it's cut to get rid of the horrible brassy 'blonde' that was meant to be a balayage?
Unfortunately I can only afford a cut at the hairdressers at the moment & not any of their treatments or colours so hoping for some of you to come along with some miracles for me

Another one for rebuilding the bonds. If it's really damaged a good cut will really help.

Go to the hairdressers, you may be embarrassed but I'm sure they eve seen it before.

Good luck!

Flippingecktucker · 15/04/2017 10:13

To get the knots out now, use fabric conditioner.

Branleuse · 15/04/2017 10:15

i recommend a pixie cut

Bantanddec · 15/04/2017 10:22

Have it cut you don't have to have it mega short but a bob style would see the end of those tangles and make it much more manageable for you.

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 10:25

Definitely want it cut I've just got to get these awful tangles out first. Not a pixie cut or a bob though, they would just never suit me. It's very long though so I can afford to have a decent amount cut off & still have 'long' hair

TBH I don't think there's any point in trying to detangle it before you see a hairdresser. It looks like it'd re-tangle immediately. Just shove it all in a hat and let the hairdresser sort it out.

Looks like you'll need to chop off all the lightened hair to be left with anything worth having. Utterly shocking that a salon would leave you in such a state!

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 10:39

She was a mobile hairdresser not a salon 😕 still got charged £130 for the privilege though.

I can't let anyone touch this I'd rather just sit here & scream to myself as I detangle it rather than screaming at a hairdresser

Try castor oil and coconut oil in your hair for a few hours and then wash out. Do this at least once a week!

Figuier · 15/04/2017 10:41

If you do detangle, start from the ends and work your way up, don't brush from the top.

Thesp00kykids · 15/04/2017 10:52

What ever you do do not use a brush like mentioned to try and untangle it will make it worse, used a wide tooth comb x

Farfromtheusual · 15/04/2017 11:01

I had my hair ruined a couple of years ago, looked similar to yours, was very tangled/matted and just dry like straw. I was recommended John Freida Miraculous Recovery deep conditioner Masque. I managed to get a lot of the matted bits out and saved most of my hair. Still had to have a bit of it chopped off mind you, but not as much as I probably would of had I not used the deep conditioner.

Here's the link - www.superdrug.com/John-Frieda/John-Frieda-Frizz-Ease-Miraculous-Recovery-Masque-150ml/p/252832

I'd leave it on longer than the recommended 1 minute though, leave it on as long as possible and try and tease through it with the conditioner still in.

Farfromtheusual · 15/04/2017 11:05

John Freida do a 'full repair' one also which is meant to be just as good! Good luck!

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 11:06

Have washed & i only ever use a tangle teezer on my hair, nothing else works. I've dried my hair now it's brushing out much better now it's dry but with a hint of the coconut oil still on it. Still some massive knots to go though 😫

This is what you need. I use it and so do all my horsey friends- including my hairdresser Grin. www.saddlery.biz/canter-silk-mane-and-tail-conditioner-spray?m=configurable&132=6561&aid=70873&gclid=CML7_dWbptMCFQUq0wodKCwFag

nackle · 15/04/2017 11:17

I'd buy a blonde Clairol dye and just use the tube of conditioner -
and chuck the dye part. I swear by it when my dry hair is like tangled straw.

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 11:19

😂 carabos desperate times & all that! I'm about a quarter of the way through. This is hell. Once I've got it cut I shall be using all of your treatments & have goddess like hair haha

OP posts:
carabos · 15/04/2017 12:52

Trust me, you will have long shiny lustrous swishy hair from a couple of squirts. You won't believe it.

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 12:55

I don't doubt you haha. I've just this second finished detangling! Booked in hairdressers at 2 o'clock, and I'm going there with this coconut oil still greasing up my hair because I don't have time to wash it off! My hair was so beautiful before it had all this done to it. I was very proud of it so I'm going to post a pic of what it once was Grin

I miss this red velvety hair so much 😫

I have really tangled hair. Unless I use certain shampoos and conditioners it goes into a knotted mass the moment I try to wash it. It's also dry too.

My miracle cure is a very wide tooth comb from the pound shop. L'Oréal elvive conditioner and lots of it. Hold head upside down and work the worst of the tangling out with my fingers, then use the comb. Then rinse gently. Pat with a towel (not rub!) and comb through again then gently blow dry using the comb or just leave to dry naturally.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 15/04/2017 13:00

Having seen the photo I would tie it back and go and get it cut. A cut where they literally snip off all the dry matted bit because the state of it is not going to be salvageable. Better to just start again.

Then I'd put a brown semi permanent all over at home.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 15/04/2017 13:02

Wow just seen the second photo. You should get your money back from that mobile "hairdresser". Awful job!

JonSnowsWhore · 15/04/2017 13:04

Moving if I did that I would literally be at a pixie cut & believe me That's not for me lol. I've completely detangled it & put it up til I get to the hairdressers, they can give it a decent cut & layer it so it's not so thick & then I'll probably put a brown over it til I've treated it enough that it recovers!

springsheep · 15/04/2017 13:05

If you're brushing your hair when wet you'll just damage it even more. I have super thick hair which is bleached, if I stray from my usual routine it ends up tangled like yours.

Loads of conditioner and a wide tooth comb is the only thing that works for me, starting at the ends. Use oil or a decent conditioning mask overnight a couple of times a week.

nackle · 15/04/2017 13:11

The last pic of your hair:
Your hair is really lovely, OP and I love the colour.
Let us know how it goes at the hairdressers.
