Trainers to wear with skinny jeans/jeggings. Alternatives to converse?

I've just realised I've been wearing the same pair of converse all stars for the past 6 years. It's time to update! I like the low profile of the converse but would like a more modern alternative. Tomorrow I plan to leave my toddler at home and go shopping on my own for the first time since she was born! What should I be looking for? What's current? I am pushing 40, if that makes any difference!

I recently left Cons for New Balance. So much more comfortable and supportive.

I have these ones and they are worth every last penny www.newbalance.co.uk/outlet/women/womens-shoes/574-molten-metal/WL574-MM.html?dwvar_WL574-MM_color=Gunmetal#color=Gunmetal&width=B

I have Converse in navy, grey and white and although I like the way they look I've never found them super comfortable either. I bought these a few months ago and love them, they're really comfortable and look nice on, the colour goes with pretty much everything: www.schuh.co.uk/womens/adidas-gazelle-snake-light-grey-trainers/1920806850/

Another vote for Supergas, excellently comfortable.

AllllGooone · 14/04/2017 23:42

Leather converse? Grin
Gazelles
Cortez

mainlywingingit · 15/04/2017 17:52

I've counted it's 10'pairs not 12

Most of them were ebay purchases as nearly new or barely worn and I just got the Rose Gold for my birthday.

Converse don't suit me for some reason, I like them on other people but I look 12 years old for some reason ?!

Another one for gazelles! They're lovely and so comfy.
Also recently got some suede pumas in the sale at sports direct, they're so pretty and very comfy too.

Marzipants · 15/04/2017 22:46

If I could afford it I'd get Lacoste. But I also have a Vans habit I can't shake!

Mamia15 · 15/04/2017 23:00

Superga here too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2017 23:10

Gazelles are lovely, but came up far too wide on me.
Superga come up very big, and very wide.

Nike Roshe are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, but Converse look nicer!

Mrsknackered · 16/04/2017 00:21

I wear the vans slip ons or converse.
Gazelles and originals are cool, lots of kids wearing them at the moment Wink
Personally not a fan of superga
I have an outrageous pair of shiny mint green Nike TN's I absolutely love them and are the comfiest things ever. Do feel a bit OTT in them though.

Glamorousglitter · 16/04/2017 07:51

I ve caved and fitted white adudas superstars and they re the most comfy I ve ever worn. Next on the list list is grey/ khaki gazelles or roshe
I have new black new balance which I love and a couple of pairs of super ga which I find a bit heavy and clunky to be honest

BreatheDeep · 16/04/2017 08:59

I have adidas la trainers that work well.

babyinthacorner · 16/04/2017 09:24

NBs all the way! It's like walking on little clouds!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/04/2017 11:46

NBs look awful on me - I look like a giant toddler in them.

Violetcharlotte · 16/04/2017 22:41

So, I was pleased with my Gazelles, until 'D'S 15 told me today 'only middle aged football hooligans wear Gazelles.. are you joining a Firm Mum?'

Confused
user1482079332 · 16/04/2017 22:49

What about vans?

LockedOutOfMN · 16/04/2017 23:20

Stan Smiths or Superstars?

carrie74 · 17/04/2017 02:47

I'm a Stan Smith / Superstars fan (despite the fact that when I went to help in DS' school the other day, half the Y5 girls were wearing the same trainers as me). Also like Nike Air Theas (mine are customised).

BLONDIEMUMMY · 19/04/2017 19:55

Had a couple of pairs in silver last year but found them very heavy. Would like to try the version with the thinner sole, anyone tried them?

Polkadot1974 · 19/04/2017 21:18

Love the look of my Supergas, but I keep walking out of them- pain in arse. Not sure what to do...
