My mum is taking me out to buy clothes for my birthday - not a massive budget, but will try and get as much as I can.

I have lost lots of weight so could do with all kinds of clothes.

Advice on tops would be good, will probably get a pair of smart jeans to go with them.

Large of nork.

Erm.. .oh, my sister has given me a shoe budget too I want shoes rather than boots/sandals that I can wear with skirts or trousers.

Lucky you! Happy birthday for whenever it is!
I went into Poole shopping the other day and there was loads of stuff in Next that I really liked. Primark was totally and utter crap.
Although you have a limited budget, I have learnt to this day that paying that little bit extra always pays off in the long run. Better quality clothes will get much more wear and therefore value for money.
Have fun!! x

Thanks Just mentioned the budget to get more Next than Monsoon

Birthday is the end of the month

Lucky you!

Re the shoes...a pair of peep toes with chunky-ish heels you can wear with jeans or skirts, and a pair of ballet flats?

Zara for tops? - they used to do a great fixed wrap top in their "basics" range which was good for norkage, not sure if they have them this season, worht a look.

Sparkler1 · 09/03/2007 21:30

80's style is all the rage at the moment. Saw loads of leggings and long "dress type" tops when I went round the shops. Stuff like this

Flamesparrow · 09/03/2007 21:44

I like the grey silk cami in next...but couldn't wear it

Zara - not been in there yet Yay!!!

i love zara clothes, they're a little bit different! here agree with wrap tops. they are v flattering!

CODalmighty · 10/03/2007 08:31

I am a lon voice ont eh wrap tops
imo they make norks lok HUGE and are very unflattering

CODalmighty · 10/03/2007 08:32

adn thsoe loose tops do not suit large norks either - avoid those topsw iht lines/seams across the bust
id look fro seams on stop ( shirts say) and not polo necks

lissielou · 10/03/2007 08:37

wish i had big norks. mine are like walnut small and wrinkly. im 29 ffs!

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 08:54

I don't mind em looking big (hence being ok with wrap tops), but it is the matronly pregnant look that the loose tops bring that I avoid.

Apart from 80s, what are the young ladies wearing these days?

Oooh how about skirts?

lissielou · 10/03/2007 08:58

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 09:12

Looking forward to Zara!!!

I went shopping this time last year, but it was a few weeks post DS, I was wibbly and hated how I looked - one of the most depressing trips ever!!!

Really looking forward to this - my mum should be here soon
