'Bright' for a funeral

At a funeral on Monday. The dress code says bright.

I know no one is looking at me, that's 100% what I'm aiming for. I've only ever worn black to funerals before so I've no clue what to wear.

It's for someone that died far too early, we are friends through our kids, he was pretty creative (but not wildly so.)

I can get to the shops today but I'd rather stick with something I've got.

Any thoughts?

TIA

I think I would just wear any colour that isn't black! No need to buy something bright , just wear something you already have.

I wore a floral dress on a navy background with a bright blue cardigan to a similar funeral.

Zara have bright colourful scarfs at the moment. A scarf over something that you already own wouldn't take you as far out of your comfort zone.

I went to a funeral last year with a similar dress code. Nobody could bring themselves to be very bright. I wore a muted purple dress. All the men wore black ties. The widow wore a navy floral dress.

I don't have anything bright that isn't also very casual - I don't think I could bring myself to go to a funeral in high viz running gear! In that situation, I would just go with normal smart clothes but pick up a really bright scarf to accessorise.

I wore a navy dress with white doves on it for a similar funeral. Some people were happy in really bright, crazy ties etc, but I couldn't.

I went to a friend's funeral who knew she was dying and had stipulated that she would like us all to wear pink. Enjoy yourself its later than you think was played at the end. Everything about the funeral was positive and encouraging happiness. I wore pink from top to bottom, blouse, cardigan, trousers and shoes. My daughter saw me afterwards at home and said "mum, you look ......very pink"!

I believe in going along with whatever the family has asked for. In fact I think it would be pretty rude not to - it might have been the deceased's own request.

They haven't said head to toe bright so wearing just one thing e.g. cardigan, scarf, piece of jewellery - in a bright colour should be fine.

I'm sorry for your loss and I hope it goes well.

Sadly (for my age) I seem to have been to far too many funerals that specify bright
One I wore a wrap dress that's a navy base but lots of coloured tiny birds on it
One I wore a collectif dolores dress in a red roses print
