Suggestions for hormonal spots?

Logoplanter · 08/04/2017 07:38

My skin isn't in bad condition but every month I end up with one or two hormonal spots on my chin. They don't tend to be small either and because I just have to squeeze them (I know, I know but they have a head and I can't resist) they end up looking a right mess.

Can anyone suggest something to help with them and old spot marks? I was looking at the La Roche Posay Effaclar targeted corrector but my skin is actually dry so wasn't sure if this is a good idea.

Any suggestions welcome? Budget is around £30.

TIA

The Ordinary Azelaic acid has helped my breakouts significantly

Oops and I have also purchased la Roche cicaplast for clearing some marks as recommended on other threads but not tried it yet.

Effaclar by LRP gets good reviews, Paula's Choice BHA exfoliants, eucerin dermo-purifier cleanser. Of course, if it is troublesome you could ask your GP. Benzoyl peroxide can also be really helpful, if a bit drying- I think you can get this OTC at pharmacies. I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions here. Good luck!

I re- read your post and win dry skin you might want to avoid alcohol containing astringents. I can't remember if the effackae toner has alcohol. Paula's choice BHA does not. I found the eucering cleanser to be on drying. Cerave is also good. Are you moisturising as well?

I have the same issue but on my upper back. Also can't help squeezing at them, and would really like to get on top of it by summer.

So not helpful but following!

Rinceoir it might be worth a trip to the GP. Also maybe look at your shampoo/ conditioners in case they are not helping/tie hair up if applying conditioner and then leaving for a few minutes.
I used to use the Original Source tea tree and lemon shower gel at one time to control my acne on my back and it helped at the time.

Well I know the best medical treatment is the combined pill (because it's really just a week a month) but would prefer not to take it right now. I was breastfeeding until a few months ago so it's only recently flared up. Lucky it's not my face I know but holidays/summer coming up and would like to bare my back! I'll try out the tea-tree shower gel in the meantime, thanks for the suggestion.
