I loved hot oil and was using it every week but can't find it anywhere now. My hair is suffering and feels quite dry Sad Any ideas?

Have you got a 'savers' or 'bodycare' shop near you?

angelcakerocks · 28/03/2017 20:52

thanks dontpokethebear I didn't realise it was on amazon and will get some. Its about double what it was in the shops I think, or maybe more but at least I can use it occasionally. Flowers

How funny, I was looking all over for this the other week but forgot to post.

The Amazon stock will disappear eventually though; does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement to the VO5?

TIA.

I've started putting coconut oil on my hair after seeing how much it helps my mixed race dd's hair. It's like magic. The day after I can't stop flaying my hair around. Like the timotai woman. Or a horse.

angelcakerocks · 28/03/2017 21:48

ancora I'm glad it's just not me that missed it! I've been everywhere looking for it like this Confused
savoy what do you do with the coconut oil- leave it in or just use it like a conditioner?

I second coconut oil - I apply a small
amount to ends at bedtime then wash hair in morning. Makes hair lustrous and non/ greasy.

ThreeDovesAndSomePinkChampagne · 29/03/2017 01:27

Warm jojoba oil.

Sample1936 · 29/03/2017 01:50

Argan oil!

ChipIn · 29/03/2017 02:22

Body shop body butter is great. Put in hair, wrap in towel for half an hour then wash like normal.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 29/03/2017 02:24

Do they still do Timotei?

SavoyCabbage · 29/03/2017 06:50

I sleep in the coconut oil.

I take the coconut oil jar into the shower to soften it up. Then I shampoo my hair, get out of the shower, stand on the bath mat so the floor doesn't become an oil slick and slap it on my hair. Then I wash and condition as normal in the morning.

It's really cheap in the supermarket in the food section as opposed to the toiletries bit.

Stitchfusion · 29/03/2017 06:53

Almond oil, use on ends and roots/scalp if you are feeling in a luxurious mood. Leave on for as long as you are able, overnight if you dont mind your pillowcases getting a bit oily, Shampoo off. Then use argan oil on the ends as a leave in conditioner after you have used normal conditioner and towel dried hair.

unicornpoopoop · 29/03/2017 06:59

Is there a beauty queen where you live? They sell loads of hot oil capsules for really cheap

eurochick · 29/03/2017 07:28

Philip Kingsley Elasticiser.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 29/03/2017 15:57

Chinese / Indian food shops prob do it cheapest. The coconut oil that is.

angelcakerocks · 29/03/2017 19:33

Wow so many great ideas Smile thanks everyone. No beauty queen near me unfortunately. Will try some of these suggestions out Flowers

How do you stop coconut oil making your hair greasy?

snakeface · 12/04/2017 20:03

I use Almond oil, from food section in Sainsburys, every night the night before I wash my hair in the morning. The condition of my hair has improved no end and it doesn't smell like coconut oil.

Ogochukwu27 · 12/04/2017 20:17

Usually make mine. Quite easy to make

ChippieFishieHorshie · 12/04/2017 20:31

I like oil for the ends.... Pretty much all women in my family do it (also to remove makeup... But a different oil, well, at least in my case).

I like Olive oil. But I've used cheap peanut cooking oil before (it worked). I used to use conditioner and oil. But I've started using a clay shampoo, which seems to be much better for my hair. It doesn't even get dry or frizzy anymore... A little oil is enough.

Vicliz24 · 12/04/2017 21:31

I slather my hair in coconut oil then get in the bath for half an hour . Then wash it - lovely !

shabbyshibby · 12/04/2017 21:44

Sorry to piggyback but any recommendations? My hair has become really thin & prone to breaking/splitting since having kids (under active thyroid too - not hashimotos) & I can't seem to find a happy medium with products. The teensiest bit of conditioner makes it look greasy -even when I put it in first then shampoo out, & shampoo alone makes it dry & flyaway. I only have time in the morning for a quick shower so can't be faffing around with elaborate routines!

Bitchin · 12/04/2017 22:45

I second Philip Kingsley elasticiser.... I have got very fine hair after having kids and find that it leaves hair in great condition without weighing it down. It is quite pricey but you use only a tiny amount. I recently bought a massive bottle from allbeauty.com which was a bargain compared to everywhere else.

rizlett · 13/04/2017 06:14

I second (or third!) coconut oil - rub it all in the day before, sleep with a towel on my pillow and wash out the next day - normal shampoo - no conditioner needed - soooo soft.
(its deliciously sensual for sex too!)
(and in breakfast porridge....)
