I don't know what my mummy look is!

I've always considered myself (without wanting to sound like a wanker) a fairly stylish person. I always know what to wear, am interested in clothes, people compliment my clothes and I've helped people find outfits etc.

But I can't find my mummy look! We've adopted a beautiful amazing baby girl and I'm having the most lovely time. But I went straight from work to adoption leave with barely any notice and my mind, let's say, has been on other things.

I'm wearing the one pair of jeans and its begun to drive me mad.

My style generally is at the prettier end of Cos - not the big voluminous stuff, but the nice structured dresses. I wear a lot of black. I'm short. I need to be comfortable for crawling around on the floor with a baby.

I'm at a loss! Any ideas?

You don't sound like a wanker by saying you were a stylish person, but you totally do by saying this " But I can't find my mummy look!"

There is no such thing, we look the way we look. There
Is absolutely no reason you can't dress in casual clothes as you did before and I'm fairly sure you know what comfy and relaxed clothing is.

Wow, Bluntness, living up to your name there. Don't know why this has got your knickers in such a twist. It's Style and Beauty, not AIBU.

Totally get how your professional life and style can be a world away from st home (with kids) look the reality if that pencil skirt suits silk blouses won't cut it but you can still be fab and glam.
I m having a bit of a wardrobe crisis myself, most recent pregnancy and new gym routine mean I m fit and strong but not as skinny and un toned as before which sadly rules out most of the clothes in my pre pregnancy wardrobe. Am currently working way through wardrobe and culling what I won't wear and doesn't look right or make me happy, then going to keep it simple with some new style. Am alsostruggling as I love my skinny jeans but long legs mean it s difficult to find ones that fit last and won't blow the budget.

I just wear the same stuff as I wore before but with trainers. I've got a lot of trainers now Grin

Jeans trainers striped jersey tops... bags under eyes...half hearted pony tail and a strained expression.

I know how you feel! I went from stylish shift dresses and high heels to my Mum Uniform when I had kids! It's not unusual to need to get a lot of clothes when you go from full time work to full time parent. You only needed casual stuff at the weekend before, now it's every day!

I really like the jeggings in M&S and they're cheap enough to buy a few pairs, rotate them and sling them in the tumble drier. I'm short too so long and baggy things or tunics look terrible. If I'm getting a loose fitting top, I make sure it's short enough to see my fly, it makes my legs look longer. Then because if the inevitable crawling around after kids, I wear a vest tucked in- no bum cleavage!

My tip is to go for basics for your "uniform" but in colours and fabrics that you love and that are your style. And try a new hair cut that you might not have got for work!

Congratulations on the adoption!
