Is shoulder length hair easier to 'manage' than long hair?

Going to hairdressers in morning.

Normally it's a case of cover those greys and let me go!

Last time I was there hairdresser said "Ballet you really need that hair cut!"

My hair needs to be blow dried, it's horrific if left 'natural'.

Fumbling in the dark here, it should I get it cut up?

I find it easier because when it's longer I end up tying it back or putting it up but it probably depends on your hair type. It also takes less time to wash!

Yes! I also get a lot of the weight taken out so it's quicker to dry.

Mines long enough to put up still but so much easier!

Going against the grain but I find shorter hair harder to manage. I have fine hair though and the extra weight seems to keep it looking sensible.

It depends why the hairdresser is suggesting that it needs cut.

Is it damaged by colour/straightening/styling? Perhaps cutting a chunk off would give a healthier look.

Perhaps the hairdresser feels that the style is unflattering and you could do with some shaping/definition.

It's hard to know without seeing your hair.

Best thing to do is have a proper discussion with your stylist.

It's not all or nothing by the way, you could shorten a bit and gradually work your way up. You don't have to do anything drastic.

No - in practical terms, it has all the disadvantages of long hair with none of the benefits. If it suits your face when loose, go for it, but otherwise either keep it long or go properly short (jaw length or shorter).

I find that the longer it is, the easier it is to manage. The weight in it pulls it in the same way all the time, so it won't randomly stick up or out- it just looks the same. I had far more bad hair days when my hair was mid-length then now it's long.

Don't you have a trim regularly when you get it coloured? Maybe that's why she suggested a cut, to get rid of the dead/split ends & to encourage healthier growth.

For me, long hair drags my face down, esp as I get older and my face is leaner. A "lob", skimming my collarbones is far more flattering.

I had longer hair until last year, and look much better with the lob.

Mines just about at boob length. I like it this way. It looks good down and if I need to I can tie it up/back.

I've had shorter hair before but struggled pulling it all up.
