I'm 37 and I've been rather stressed lately. I have one child and my husband is always away with work. Lately I look it the mirror and I look so bloody middle aged. I look rough. Sick of making the effort and still looking shit, I used to look nice! Anyone else feel this way?

Honey
I'm using the Hot Cloth Cleanser - I'd never tried one before but my skin does look much better for it.
Then I'm using Calm Skin serum which takes out redness and irritation as I have rosacea across my cheeks. Then their moisturiser for dry skin.

My skin does look loads better, redness and irritation has eased and it looks brighter. I had been using La Roche Posay range but skin was looking drab and rosacea had flared up.

They have 3 for 2 at the mo so I saved a bit plus they always have vouchers on. The sales woman was really helpful and not too pushy.

I agree with pp, having teen daughters keeps me youngish. Mine are mid teens and they like to pile on the slap and hide their lovely fresh skin. Didn't we all.

I’ve just realised this post is over a year old!!! However this is me right now 😔 anyone with some helpful tips!! I’ve been in complete denial using Snapchat filters it’s definitely a shop when you take a normal photo!!!

FashionFiend · 03/04/2018 12:56

Me too! Made a big effort with makeup today and look like a painted clown. Going to cut out alcohol and drink more water and see if that helps. Also, do people still rate clarins flash beauty balm? Can you use it everyday? Also, heard on MN that clarins fake tan drops that go in your face or body moisturiser are good so might be worth a try.

Umm not sure as sonout of touch and have revamped my makeup!! I normally wear bare minerals during the day but vet light makeup. However the powder is sinking into my lines and pores and I look washed out!! I need to wearing more but look like I’m wearing less!! I’ve got a trial sample of the body shop B.B. cream and quite impressed so far!! I have combo skin with a few spots here and there. Also on a mission to drink more and apply sunscreen when I remember!! I have 3 fine lines in the centre of more fore head which I’m seriously hating 😰 plus a few fine lines around eyes 😞

ALso need to cut out sugar and moisturise!! I normally just wash with water and go 😣 might see if I can get a sample of the beauty flash I remembering using but not sure if it did anything for me tbh xx

I would definitely recommend trying to improve your skincare routine if you want to feel and look brighter. If you're are using face wipes, get rid of them. Full of nasty chemicals and they don't clean your face properly. Micellar water is also crap. I'd recommend a hot cloth cleanser (Superdrug do inexpensive ones but ditch the crap muslin cloth that comes with it and use a flannel instead) or cleansing with a balm (I use Clinique's Take the Day Off). There's loads of info on here about double cleansing but just one cleanse is a good start! Then try an acid toner to brighten and exfoliate the skin (the Nip+Fab glycolic acid pads are good), then serum (again, Superdrug do good ones) and moisturiser incl. SPF.

Brilliant thank you I’m on it!!

I'm 40 this year and feel fat and unattractive, I know deep down that I'm not fat fat, just fatter then I was and I'm not unattractive but I feel like I've let myself go. So to make me feel better in my clothes I've sold everything which makes me feel down due to being too tight or not suiting me, with the money I've bought gorgeous clothe that are not tight and flattering my ample chest (where clothes pull and rub my armpits) I've also invested in some super moisturing under eye concealer (Benefit Boi-ing hydrating and illuminating) which both improve my eye area and finally I've investing in skin care, lots of Origins and a dash of Decleor. I'm feeling happier but I just need to address my dire sugar addiction!

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 05/04/2018 17:23

For me it's the opposite. I looked like shit in my 20s. I look much better now, with better clothes/better diet/nicer makeup.

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 17:27

Fab my best years were about 28 to 35....now I feel just blurgh....

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 17:27

No, I'd say 26.

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 05/04/2018 17:34

I'm early 30s. Recently I find myself looking to beautiful older women for my ageing goals. I'm thinking particularly of Famke Jansen, Helen Mirren and Julianne Moore. I'm looking forward to dressing 20+ years too young, wearing bright colours and just generally looking batty. I also can't wait until my peppery hair comes in pure white. I'm going to grow it LONG.

Well, watching your face slowly melt into your neck can't be a fun experience, and I need something to cheer myself up.

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 18:23

Fab 😂

Madonnasbiggestfan · 05/04/2018 18:49

I’m 47 and felt old after I had my first DC - I was 37. I have kept up my exercise (through thick and thin and pregnancy no 2 at 42) and I don’t drink so much now. I didn’t try and overhaul majorly - tweaked things. I don’t feel old now. Don’t look to the celebs either - even the natural looking ones have had stuff done. Be your own best self. Decent hair cut (and if long hair suits you just make sure you get it trimmed) and clothes that make you feel confident!

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 19:22

I agree, you've got to make the most of yourself!

SukiTheDog · 05/04/2018 22:32

@Fabala, that’s the spirit!
