It was great! I'm a deep / cool, so I suit all dark and vibrant colours except those with yellow in them, like oranges, earth colours, orangey reds, etc. The make up tips were also very good, lots of advice on cheap products that work! Highly recommend it! It's too early to say if it's changed my life ut I'll keep you posted!

Can anyone do this online? What should a blonde (dyed) with fair skin which tans easily and grey eyes wear? Or isn't it that simple?

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 11:31

it's a bit hard to do online

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 11:35

this might be a good place to start though - the hardest thing is telling if your skin is pinky (cool) or yellowy (warm) but you can do the Benefit blusher test (copyright my little sis) - Dandelion only suits cools and Georgia only suits warms.

LaCerbiatta · 28/02/2007 11:35

It cost £65 through lastminute.com.
And black is one of my best colours!!!!! Because I have dark features I can carry it off. Black and white apparently is a hard combination for lots of people (with lighter hair and eyes) but is fine for me. I have the same colous of penelope cruz, except slightly lighter eyes, a bit hazel. I thought that because of this I would suit colours with yellow undertones, but I don't. They made me these tests, putting orange and pink scarves next to my face to compare and it was quite obvious actually. There was this orangey brown that looked dreadful. There were also colours that were supposedly good for me that I hated but I think that's just a matter of taste.
They also told me about this season's best colours and how to combine them but it's all a bit too bright for my taste.

Before I went I bought their book to try to work out my mother's colours (she was a bit jealous) and I think you can do it to a certain extent but it can be tricky... It was very obvious that I would be a deep but I thought I would be warm and I'm cool. You really have to do the tests, not just base it on hair / eyes colour.. Some people are easier than others I think. The lady that did it for me told me she was a warm (the group of red heads) and from the book I would maybe have said that she was a soft...

yes cod, I think it probably does. And there are colours and specially tones that I~ll never buy again. For example, I love the soft muted colours in jigsaw, like the greyish pinks and greens and heathers and they~re completely wrong. But I don~t think I~ll ever get my head round wearing colours that suit me but that I hate like really bright blue and bright purple. She told me that bright purple together with pale yellow would be really nice and I thought it looked like a university college uniform, really ghastly... But on the other hand I got so many great ideas, like brightening up a black jumper with a strong bright colour like fuchsia or turquoise instead of the boring white I always wear.

my dsis had this done about 3 years ago and it really really worked well. She used to wear quite subtle colours but they told her to wear bright pinks and blues and aqua colours as well as olivey greens and now she does and looks really great.

LaCerbiatta · 28/02/2007 11:51

It was with CMB and I got 42 swatches to take home. I think there are cheaper options of only 30 something colours but that means they don~t work out all the colour types that suit you, like whether you should wear vibrant bright or muted tones, so don~t go for it.
Yeah, definitely do it, what a great mother~s day gift!

ooh yes i went a few weeks ago with sis it was fabbo. i went to house of colour (sis paid quite a lot of it). i am a deep summer (that is cool). no more black alas but lots of grey so i will survive. and she suggested i dye my hair plum but not sure i can face that. sis got the dramatic look like you tugam, black and white and bright colours, i am more muted. it is fun and i am really enjoying shopping now.

god yes ,what if I FIND OUT ALL MY CLOTHES are the wrong colour, maybe ignorance is cheaper.

LaCerbiatta · 28/02/2007 12:06

Yes, I was also told that plum was the only colour for highlights I should choose and I should only have my hair darker, never lighter. However, I think auburn highlights look so good on me and when by mistake my hair goes darker everyone says it's not so good... Maybe she's wrong on this one?
