Could someone in the shoe trade tell me why there are no brown court shoes or heels

I have walked The Trafford Centre and not a whisker of brown. I want brown leather or suede court shoes to go with blue and brown work trousers. Is there a shortage of brown dye, or are all the brown shoes being held in storage till Autumn?

There aren't many are there?

lk bennett bit expensive though.

Would grey?

Corialanusburt · 10/02/2017 11:20

Yes got some grey but bit too high. Brown is so good because it matches a lot.

Next? My most comfortable brown court shoes are from Next. A few seasons old though.

Corialanusburt · 10/02/2017 11:24

Just been in Next. Done every clothes shop and every shoe shop. Need courts no high heels as I can't walk in them.

I have an ancient very old pair of brown courts from Clarks which I use sparingly. The same with navy.

Agree brown shoes are good and also wish they were more easily come by (without paying dear).

I'm a footwear buyer and the answer is they don't sell! If you do a court shoe in black, navy and brown you end up with a lump of brown to go in the sale.

Corialanusburt · 10/02/2017 11:56

Thanks all and thanks PNgirl for that info. Looking at the displays today, I could see that brown wouldn't have looked pretty especially somewhere like Selfridges&Co. That said, its such a versatile colour and they look good on.
Oh well, another week in my cheapie H & M stilettos.

La Redoute have some with a lower heel.

EggsEleven · 10/02/2017 12:00

If you're a size 5 or 6 I got these recently for work though they are much more of a rust colour rather than brown brown. They look nice with black trousers and cream top.

Link didn't work

I'll try again

OdinsLoveChild · 10/02/2017 12:02

This is probably no use to you but I've just got back from Boundary Mills and they had racks full of smart brown court shoes. They have lots of stores usually next to motorways so easy to find. Their website has a store search.

I couldn't find a single pair of silver shoes with matching bag anywhere and I've been everywhere local to me.

trevortrevorslattery · 10/02/2017 12:05

I had a total nightmare trying to find plain brown ballet pumps last year.
Eventually found some on zalando - maybe try there? www.zalando.co.uk/womens-shoes-heels/_brown/

trevortrevorslattery · 10/02/2017 12:05

PS it's free delivery and returns I think from Zalando

tethersend · 10/02/2017 13:45

any good?

BreatheDeep · 10/02/2017 14:01

I was going to suggest Zalando too. I get a lot of shoes from there, they have a wide selection.

Eve · 10/02/2017 14:03

Navy is slightly more available but used to be impossible to find

TollgateDebs · 10/02/2017 17:31

Any good - worth trying, as they are comfortable and often look better on www.hotter.com/gb/en/womens/womens-factory-clearance/monica-heels-uksl

I think brown is just not fashionable at he moment so it all very difficult to come across. I remember when brown was the new black several years ago, it was everywhere! Grey is a tricky one too, there is quite a bit at the mo but it used to be hard to come by. Fashion has a lot to answer for!

herecomesthsun · 11/02/2017 08:44

hotter sale

hotter new collection

there are some heels in all the brown shoes

Themirrorcracked · 11/02/2017 09:56

Mustard yellow might be nice with brown and blue? I find yellow shoes go with so much stuff.

strugglingwithmaths · 11/02/2017 10:15

Have you done a ShopStyle search? I had a quick look- brown, heels, reasonably priced and it showed me hundreds. Lots were obv a bit grin, but some nice plain ones showing....

Crumbs1 · 11/02/2017 10:19

And there are no mid heels - either huge wobbly, painful stillettos or frumpy flats! I want about 1.5 -2inch wide based heels that are comfortable in varying colours. Clarks did a fabulous court with internal platform that were comfortable and smart. They apparently sold out quickly but then stopped - if something sells well why don't they keep selling it?
