Help my dd14 with her skin (pics)

Dd is nearly 14 and has extremely dry sensitive skin, she gets few spots (usually around time of month) and has few blackheads.

She is really getting fed up with it and wants to sort out the dry patches but like I say it's extremely sensitive and she find virtually everything stings.

Can anyone recommend anything cleanser/moisturiser to sort this out? Or anything I can get through doctor if need be?

Hopefully nothing to mega expensive but if it works I will pay

My skin is similar. I get dry bits and creams sting my face I've also had a few burns.

I swear by Nivea cream in the big blue tub. It's so moisturising and is quite cheap too. If I try any other more expensive brand my face ends up a dry peeling mess. I seriously LOVE Nivea cream.

Whoops posted to soon

Course she has chocolate, Mac Donald's etc like all teenagers but nothing extreme
She's had sensitive skin since day one at 12 hours old she gave the midwifes/doctors a scare when she developed the worse heat rash you have ever seen (summer baby) Confused

Have you looked at Moogoo? Lots of threads on mn with people swearing by their products (when as is working again!)

I would be careful of Nivea. My dd and I are both sensitive skin people and Nivea gives us rashes. Aveeno is the best way to go! Also, hydrocortisone AND in the folds of the skin sometimes an antifungal (for athlete's foot) if it's super yucky.

Sikkinis · 08/02/2017 23:00

My skin is exactly the same as this when I don't treat it with extreme caution!

You want Avene or La Roche Posay. Both brands sold at boots for between £8-20 per product but most stuff is on offer. Go for the sensitive, dry skin formulas. Make sure she washes her face twice every day with a warm flannel (replacing it often)

If dryness really persists go with Neutrogena dermatological cream (boots online!), a thin layer at night. It's hands down the BEST over the counter eczema treatment.

With a good face wash twice a day the blackheads should clear, if not try a small amount of tea tree just on the nose and a hot compress. Please stay away from foams, teenage skincare like clearasil (argh!) and perfume Smile

lush dream cream is amazing for this type of skin and they do a shampoo bar that helps with skin conditions on the scalp too.

I would also try Aveeno before some of the more "cosmetic" brands. Your GP will also prescribe for you if necessary. Amazon has a much wider range of products than what's available in shops/chemists here. I like the one I've pictured (one pot lasts for ages). Amazon also do Aveeno foaming cleansers and other things you might want to try. Doesn't take too long for it to ship from the States.

You can also try Skin Salvation cream and bath oil from Pure Potions. Formulated by a mum to help her daughter's eczema, has a lot of recommendations. Some GPs will prescribe it (mine wouldn't) but defo worth a try. The bath oil is very slippery (stating the obvious!). Good luck, eczema is a bastardly buggeration so I hope you find something that works.

Caroline's Cream is magical stuff.

Cakescakescakes · 08/02/2017 23:52

Aveeno is superb. For more 'skincare' type products then La Roche Posay Toleriane range is excellent for sensitive skin. They do moisturiser and cleanser etc and it's available in bigger Boots etc.

dailydance · 09/02/2017 00:17

I have sensitive skin.. allergic to most products. I use a gentle daily exfoliater (Sisley-it's expensive but I like it). I'm sure a gentle Boots one would be fine; it's hardly on the skin for long so may not set off a reaction.

Moisturiser is the big problem for me. I get dermatitis and eczema. The only products that work for me are Sisley, but when it gets bad then the only thing that works is Nivea (cheap & cheerful but not nice slathering loads on your face before bed, but it works so I do it)

girlelephant · 09/02/2017 15:33

OP I suggested Liz Earle earlier for her face (as did others). But on the pics of your other child it made me think to suggest a Child's Farm for body. It's similar to Avenno body products but has worked for some people where Avenno didn't. My DC had super sensitive skin/baby acne and it's worked well for him

liftthatup · 09/02/2017 15:50

Liz Earle nourishing body cream really helped my two when their skin flared up. They still apply it after a shower. This was discovered after I'd given up on Oilatum and Diprobase.
