SAHMs of toddlers, where do you shop for comfy yet stylish clothes?

Help please! I look frumpy and sloppy. I'd like to look a bit smarter, but comfortable and easy for crawling around softplay hell and warm enough for standing around at the park. Pockets so I don't need a bag for phone/keys/wallet. I need a total new wardrobe. And not too pricey. Also would love some denim flares - anyone seen any?
Mid-Late 30s. Size 12. 5'8''.

What shoes would you wear with the jumpsuit?

GrumpyOldTroll · 06/02/2017 16:07

I wear jeans and tshirts, but I just feel meh in them. Not stylish.

I'm not paying £80 for leggings! Shock

I'm a SAHM to a 3 year old and 1 year old. 32. I shop in places like Zara, Warehouse, New Look for cheap basics, some stuff off ASOS. Mainly well fitting jeans, nice knitwear, casual dresses with tights etc.

NapQueen · 06/02/2017 16:12

I wear stuff from sainsburys when I'm at home with the kids (2 and 5). Fits and washes well, and whilst yes there are some old lady style clothes in there, there is also a fair bit of nice stuff.

I got a pair of chunky white trainers with silver across the toes from the asos sale, which keep me looking young Grin

katienana · 06/02/2017 16:27

I'm a sahm mum to a 4 yo and 9 month old. I live in skinny jeans (topship/next) and jumpers with a vest under for extra warmth. Either new balance trainers or leather riding boots from office. I have a big warm parka for keeping me toasty. When the weather warms up a bit I'll change it for my Barbour international.
You probably just need a few fashionable items to get you out of a rut. Spend on a coat you love because it's all anyone will see for most of the winter!

greeeen · 06/02/2017 16:41

I'm 5'8" and I wear brown suede van high tops or leather chelsea boots.
Super stretch skinny trousers (many colours £14.99 h and m) (£80 for amazing ones from French connection).
Plain leather belt- various colours from asos and nicer ones from jigsaw
well fitted tops from basically any high street shop, prices vary.
Shirts with prints on from m and s, husband says they look like old man pjs but I love that look :)
Real sheepskin coat- vintage one from online so not too expensive
Leather over the shoulder bag from John Lewis.
If you wear running type trainers and a big coat with full pockets doesn't really matter what else you wear you will look frumpy, IMO.

Not a SAHM but at weekends I wear skinny jeans and a top or oversized jumper From Cos, a jumper dress in winter, boyfriend jeans with Nike or superga trainers and some oversized shirts, done up to the neck. I also recommend looking at Dress Like a Mum for inspiration. I feel best when well manicured, hair in good condition, nails clean and in my case with clean polish and some nice accessories.

How old is your toddler?

You want to get a new wardrobe based on the age of your child? Pretty soon that toddler will be off on his own at soft play whilst you sit with a cup of tea (it's awesome). So why not just buy what you like rather than "practical"

Twinklyfaerieglade · 08/02/2017 19:58

Try Uniqlo. Their clothes are very well priced and well cut.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 08/02/2017 20:03

I like sugar hill boutique as they have lots of colourful prints so I can wear jumpers that are a bit more interesting.
I agree with uni qlo and tk maxx. TK is a good place to browse for a small bag too.
Tu at sainsburys often has some nice clothes for the DCs and me. Lots of pinafore dresses which seem to be the mum wear of choice - plus they have pockets

littlewoodentrike · 08/02/2017 20:07

Agree with NapQueen! Sainsburys! I don't have loads of spare cash but love their clothes, and often get stuff in the sale, so I can afford to replace bits every so often.

GrumpyOldTroll · 11/02/2017 18:11

Blinky, he's nearly two, but I don't see freedom from crawling about at softplay for a couple of years.

I'll check sugar hill, thank you!

Grumpy, trust me, you will not crawling after your son in softplay at 4! You will be having a cup of tea with friends, and occasionally getting involved in squabbles or if he comes back to you indignant about a perceived injustice (someone pushes in front of him on the slide) or needing a quick cuddle and kiss because he bumped heads.

Blinkyblink · 11/02/2017 20:24

You won't be doing that when he's 3 even.
