Ear piercings too close together

I really hope this is the right place but I'm not sure so sorry if it's not.

DD got her ears pierced today and had to take her first piercing out before they could do it so had no idea if it was in a good place or not.

She's come home waited the time suggested and tried to put her first piercing back in but she can't as they've pierced the second too close so no earring will fit. She's been in tears as she's wanted a second piercing for ages.

Does anyone one what can be done about this? She wants to go back tomorrow and see if they can put it right but I'm pretty sure that she is going to have to wait until the piercing heals up first, isn't she?

A proper piercing place? Doesn't sound too professional. Can you name the place OP?

Donth8procreate · 06/02/2017 14:39

I had my first 2 lobe piercings and my cartilage done at Claires with no problems what so ever but had my 3rd piercing one done at a professional place and they fucked it up. You'd think the professionals would have done the better job but in some case they just don't.

Did you manage to get it sorted Op?

DearMrDilkington · 06/02/2017 14:44

Don't try to put anything in for a few weeks!

I had this problem when I had my second and third lobe piercings. The second piercing swelled up a lot and because the first piercing was so close it made the second piercing sink into the lobe. It was so painful and a nightmare to pull it out again.Sad

Not a proper piercing place if it was done with a gun. Take her to a proper one where they use a needle/venflon to pierce. They'll probably be able to do it again straight away as that second on is so close.

Floofborksnootandboop · 06/02/2017 18:18

Maybe it wasn't but that's what they would call themselves. She had a choice between needle and gun and she chose a gun.

All sorted, the manager told us when the lad who looked on saturday told her we were coming back she was planning on telling us it's tough luck as DD did okay the placement of the dots. Luckily once she looked she told us to take them out and come back next week when they've healed a bit and they'll re do it for free.

Apparently the women who done it has only been trained a few weeks and isn't 100% confident yet and usually has someone to supervise. Fuck knows why she decided to do it alone then.

That place sounds like a complete disaster, there's no way I'd be letting them loose on my ears again.

I really would recommend letting them heal up fully (which will take more than a week) then finding somewhere reputable (which the place it was done clearly isn't) to have the second holes placed and pierced properly.

Skinfulnappies46 · 06/02/2017 18:38

Much too close. She will have to wait til it heals and get it redone by a professional piercer who does not use a gun.

pinkyredrose · 07/02/2017 10:01

I wouldn't go back there OP they don't know what they're doing. I'd question the training of a 'piercer' who allows a client to mark their own ears up.

kel1234 · 07/02/2017 10:08

If she really can't get it in, it sounds to me that the second one has been done in the wrong place.
I, well my mum got my first one done when I was a baby (as soon as I was old enough). It's in the middle of my earlobe. When I was 14 I got my second one done, I left my earrings in and they did it above it.
I think nowadays they tend to do the first one lower on the love, as a lot of people have multiple piercings now

kel1234 · 07/02/2017 10:09

Why did she have to take the first one out?

Floofborksnootandboop · 07/02/2017 10:51

The piercer did the dots, not DD. I told her that if she wants to go somewhere else I will give her the money but she's happy to go back there aslong as someone who's been trained for more than 5 minutes does it.

I assume she had to remove her first one so it didn't get caught when they did the second..? Not sure though

For reference OP this is my ear - both lob piercings done with a gun. My ears are really small and even on my lobes there is space - I think the person doing your daughters got nervous about the crease of cartilage and has gone too close.

She really needs to take them out, let them heal and then have them done again.

Get her to take a picture along to refer back to when they check that the dots are in the right place.

Can you tell us which place it was ?

Floofborksnootandboop · 07/02/2017 20:04

Thank you felicia I'm going to go with her next time to make sure it's in the right place.

It's just a small shop in Bournemouth... I'd rather not name them. They are not a bad place at all, same place a few people I know have got their piercings done with no problems.

Professional places can, and do, use piercing guns as long as they are properly sanitized/disposable. It might just be where I live but the majority of places give you a choice between a gun or needle.

pinkyredrose · 07/02/2017 20:34

Metal Fatigue are in Bournemouth I think? You could try there? I've heard v good reports about them.
