This is me - lots of very thick, curly hair. I'm in PJs in the photo but tbh it's an accurate depiction of how scruffy I look normally.

I'd like a new style - preferably something less aging and mumsy - but have no idea what would work for me.

I don't tend to straighten my hair, so it needs to be something that can just dry into the natural curl (as per photo).

I've got a haircut booked in a couple of weeks, can anybody help me with what I should ask for?

Hmm. Consensus seems to be some layers. I do like the 'big' thing, I always think it's a bit scruffy on me but maybe a good cut will make the difference.

I LOVE that Thandie Newton style; I'll take that for inspiration.

Thank you everyone!

PS - yes, clothes / makeup / figure could do with an overhaul too but I'm tackling one thing at a time!

Maybe add a longish soft fringe? I have dead straight hair so don't know how fringes work with curls but if it can be done I think it would suit your face shape.

To add to the general Owhere appreciation on this thread I would like to add you have a great smile and lovely teeth.

nancy75 · 29/01/2017 15:01

I'm just going to say again, no no no fringe! You will regret it the second you walk out of the hairdressers and your fringe turns into a fuzzy mushroom over your face Grin

EnidButton · 29/01/2017 15:05

Fringes don't work with curls.

So long as your hair is glossy and cared for, then it won't look scruffy like you think. It doesn't look scruffy now because it's in such good condition. That goes for all hair types from poker straight to very curly.

zippyswife · 29/01/2017 18:52

I love your hair. You have a lovely smile and face too. Don't change a thing!

Polkadot1974 · 29/01/2017 21:42

Swap you for my stringy ginger locks? You look gorgeous. Keep it moisturized and define those curls and don't go fringe would be my advice

PalcumTowder · 29/01/2017 21:44

Op I have no advice I just wanted to say I think you look bloody fantastic! Gorgeous hair, I'm jealous.

Pollypickypocket · 29/01/2017 22:22

The style suits your face shape and hair type in my (hairdressers) opinion. A few layers would give you some lift on the top and versatility - agree with whoever said no fringe - nightmare on curly hair

justanotheryoungmother · 29/01/2017 23:31

I'm seriously jealous of your hair! Mine is long and straight but I'd give anything to have those locks!Smile

desperatehousewife2 · 30/01/2017 12:45

You and your hair look fabulous!!! Don't change!

ChocoChou · 30/01/2017 12:52

You have beautiful hair OP, I often am struck with hot envy as I have what my mum affectionately calls 'rats tails'

How about the gorgeous Nazanin Mandi?

ChocoChou · 30/01/2017 12:52

*hair envy. Not hot envy, clearly

VioletHornswaggle · 30/01/2017 13:00

Grow it. I always say this to people with curly hair, but definitely grow it! then get layers.

owhereismyhairbrush · 10/02/2017 19:40

I did it! This is the interpretation of the Thandie Newton photo. I'm very happy with it, so thanks all for the input!

Cool!

Candlesonthetable · 10/02/2017 23:23

Your hair looks amazing - I love it! Your username has got me singing the Veggie Tales song though. That's probably just me though!

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 11/02/2017 10:23

That looks fantastic. You've got beautiful hair, not in the least scruffy, either before or after.

Mrsmaudwatts · 11/02/2017 20:48

Wow. You are beautiful and your hair is fabulous!
